[Solved] X3 woes, or is this REALLY the most stable Sonar ever?
Hello Guys: Downloaded and installed X3e upgrading from X2. I've hit some snags: 1. Any project created in X2 immediately crashes when I attempt to open it in X3. I get a runtime termination message with the note I should contact support. Projects created in X3 open fine in X3 and even in X2. 2. I got tired of waiting for X3 to check the plugins on every start so I went into preferences and changed the plugin search setting to "manual". As soon as I closed the screen I got a crash and the runtime termination message again. 3. When in the track view the sliders that adjust the volume and pan do not work. No matter how much I try to drag them they will not budge. Any thoughts? Here's my system: OS Windows 7, 4th Gen icore 7, 1TB Harddrive, 16 gigs Ram, Line 6 UX1 interface/Roland Quad interface (X2 lets me choose which of the two interfaces I want to run).

scook, I'm going to have to put you on a retainer!! This is the third time in four days you have come to my rescue. The vst reset/rescan did the trick for loading older projects. Do you have any thoughts on why the volume/pan sliders don't work? I truly appreciate you!!

There is not enough information for even a SWAG except to suggest existing projects may already have automation applied to them. Other than that, I can assure you volume and pan sliders do work. Where to I send the bill?

scook: the check's in the mail, you certainly deserve it!! Cakewalk should hire you! As for the sliders, they just don't work on any project, old or new (I checked and no automation was applied). It's strange. They simply will not budge. When I go to the console view the volume fader and pan knob work fine. Weird. Again, thanks for your help and patience.

Hello Cakealex: I'll be glad to provide a screen shot if I can figure out how to insert it. When I try to add one to this message, I'm asked for a URL, but the image is on my desktop. As an additional note when I attempt to adjust the volume or pan slider the cursor disappears. Thoughts?

Does the mouse wheel move the sliders? FWIW, when I click-drag a slider in the track view, the mouse cursor disappears while adjusting the slider. Images must be loaded to an image server and the link posted.

Hey Guys: Above is a screenshot. I don't feel like it shows much, but maybe it will help.

Hello scook: At answer your question the mouse wheel does move the sliders in the console view. No effect in track view.

Is the display set larger than 100% in the Appearance section of the Control Panel? If so, reset it then test the mouse function.

The screen scaling was a guess. Glad the cause was determined. I run at 125% and the only issue I encountered was a display problem with track pane in the PRV. But there are so many ways to do things in SONAR, there could be other problems I do see because of how I use the app.
