X3e & Vista 32-Yes it works

This isn't for the guys with newer W7/W8 computers.
I'm sure there are plenty of folks out there with older computers who have been reluctant to jump to X3.
While Cakewalk indicates W7/W8 is required for X3, they note that it will run on Vista, and they have been kind enough to address the few Vista specific problems that cropped up. Cakewalk doesn't officially support Vista for X3, so I thank them for that.
The initial problem with the VST scanner was fixed in X3d.
All other issues I have had were directly related to UAC.
You must run X3 as an Administrator. Don't just click Run as Administrator when you right click the Sonar icon.
In the pop-up, select Properties>Compatibility. Place a checkmark in the Privilege Level box to run as admin.
You need to do the same for some plug-ins, specifically IK, but possibly others.
Once you get past the Windows security junk, you are good to go.
I have loaded up some projects as big as my modest dual core laptop can handle, and X3e has been very well behaved.
If you are running Vista and still on the fence, come on in. The water's fine.
It will not run on XP.
