Track Records from previous track???

Hi,

I am using X3 and when i record a track using Geist, I then try to record to another track using prodigous synth and it seems to record the output of geist to that track. I have checked all inputs and outputs. this is not just with Prdigious synth, it is also with others but not all.

so to recap... I record a track with Geist
i then switch to another track with a diffrent VSTI on it
when I record, the notes from Geist get added to the second track even if geist is muted.
Geist output is to master, i have changed it lto speakers but this does nothing.

anyone else had this?

Is your first track still armed to record?
There is a box with an R on it on each track which is red when armed. Only the track you want to record to should be armed.

no, i checked that first. the only armed track is the one i wish to record... if i choose a different track and just hit record, nothing is recorded if i do not play the keyboard (as it should be) but if i choose one of the tracks that are behaving strangely like i said, i see notes appearing in the track even when i do not play the keyboard.

Are you using the integrated mobo soundchip? You have propably its "What U hear" or "Stereo mix" setting on, that's what usually causes this. It's good to have your gear and software specs in your signature footer. That way you don't need to rewrite them every time you ask something.

Try the suggestions above. If that doesn't fix the problem, try creating a new project and in one trk put Geist and record something, then try another VSTI on a new trk and see if it still happens.

In the "Midi" section of "preferences" there is the option to "Allow Midi recording without an armed track", not sure if this could be the issue but see if this is unchecked.
