VS-2480 as a control surface

If you've successfully connected a VS-2480 in control surface mode, let me
know what I might be missing. I think I followed the Roland VS-2480 control
surface guide and the X3 ref manual, but I'm not getting connected.

Lets start from the beginning as you have not listed anything you have done.

1.) Did you download its latest drivers for your windows architecture? (if needed)
2.) Does Windows recognize the control surface?
    3) Did you define the control surfaced in sonar, If so  how did you do it? Explain your steps, so we know where your at, as it can be hundreds of things.

Cj I used Roland's doc to set up the 2480 as a control surface and activated it there. It responded
with the appropriate ready state indication. The 2480 is connected to X3 via a midi interface, and the
ports used for that are active in X3. There isn't a template in X3 for the 2480, so I set it up as an ACT
with the midi ports I used. The tracks in track view are color coded so it looks like everything is
ready to go, but VS fader movements aren't getting to X3. That's where I'm at so far.
