Upgrading RAM. Question

   I have a Desktop PC built by ADK a couple of years back and I called them about upgrading the RAM in it (only has 4Gigs currently)  they were kind enough to look up what I bought and email me links to some choices that would work from newegg which I ordered Four - 4 gig sticks in a package to bring me up to 16 Gig Ram.  I am dying to install them but I have never done it before and don't want to mess anything up either.  ADK isn't open today to consult with...   I watched a few videos on youtube and it seems simple enough, unplug everything, discharge any static electricity, undo the clips, pop the old sticks out, new ones in , close it up, plug it all back in, etc.   IS there anything else I need to do?  Any important steps I am missing guys?    Anything I need to reset once I turn it back on or does that all happen automatically?   Thank you for the help!

    That's all there is to it. When you push those clips/levers out, they unseat the ram sticks so you can pull them right out. When you push the new ones in, just make sure you push them in until those clips snap back into place. You'll have no problem. :) You don't have to do anything else. The computer will recognize the ram and you'll be good to go.

    Well now.... That was relatively painless.  I decided to vac the dust out of the case since I had it opened anyway, pulled out the 2 (two gig sticks) I had and installed 4 (four gig sticks) for a total of 16 gigs.  and all seems to be back up an running smooth.  Under system properties it is showing 16 gb  So I assume it worked.   Under physical memory (in task manager-performance tab) it shows usage at 1.96GB  so I am not sure if that is the amount of RAM I am using while that project is running or not...  But it seems to start, stop the transport faster with all the plugs and automation I have going on in a 26 track project.   Thanks again.

    windows 7 64 bit. Sonar X 3 producer also in 64 bit.

    Too late now, but ONLY handle memory modules by the edges.  Actually best to ground yourself to the PC chassis first before doing anything (even better, I use a "grounding wrist strap).  But since everything is working, you did good.

    I just realized you said USAGE was only 1.96Gb. Okay, that sounds normal. :)

    Good!   It seems to make quite the difference as I only had about 3.5 gigs usable before, now I have 15.5 usable.

    Yeah, I have ram envy.:) I only have 4Gb, and I think BFD3 uses about half that by itself...

    Cost me about 160 bucks. Wasn't too bad I don't think.
