What a crappy day...
First I was looking at the forum here and I got to thinking that the thread titles seemed a little faded looking. I looked at another site or two and checked my monitor driver... still, the they headers looked faded grey when I thought they should look more black. SO... I went into personalization, under "Ease of Access"... and proceeded to mess up all my colors and fonts and couldn't figure out what to do to change things back. I had a purple color on my taskbar and the font at the very top of a window was a smallish bold looking thing that was horrible... so I decided to do a system restore. The system restore fixed all my fonts and color scheme but it disabled my anti-virus. I use Norton 360 Security Suite because it works and is free with Comcast... however I was not paying attention and downloaded something called ConstantGuard... I stopped the install before it was finished and wound up having to open regedit to get rid of the Norton 360 that was aparrantly still here but not so I could see or use it... and I could not delete in because it said it was in use by another program. I FINALLY got it and constant guard OFF my machine by removing what I could from the registry then I could delete the rest from the folders where it had lived. So.. I am not downloading Norton 360 again, praying that it will work. There is nothing like spending half a day trying to fix something that wasn't broke (until I broke it). As for my display, it seems to involve the angle of the monitor. If I angle it back just a bit the colors are more vibrant and don't look faded however at this angle I get a glare from a lamp. I also notice with this forum that if the monitor is tilted either forward or back, little squares, maybe 1/2" in size appear on the sides of the screen and the colors fade. If I get it where the squares are completely gone, then it looks best but.. there is the glare. I don't know why I have never noticed this before or why it became a problem for me today. I guess it was just slated to become a problem today... If Norton gives me any more trouble I will try MS Essentials unless there is something better, secure but less intrusive I can use. I can put Norton on "silent" mode so it wont do anything while I am working and that seems to be fine but I am pen to using something else, especially if I have ANY more trouble. Oh, we had a few inches of rain last night and today and the power went off twice. I got up in the night and unplugged the laptops and my amp... well I thought I did, I actually unplugged my laptop from the computer and then from the surge protector where it an my amp are plugged in. Thankfully we didn't get a close strike... however the chicken I was slow cooking almost didn't get cooked. I lost a couple of hours when the power went off around noon. It kicked the crock pot off and I didn't notice it until 2:00. I'm glad every day isn't like this. The grand daughters were a nice treat but the 11 YO slept till 11:00 and the 5 YO got up before me (I got up when she did).. ate some cereal... had tummy trouble while the 11 YO watched a movie on her iPOD with headphones. I almost get the feeling that they really don't want to be here as much as they once did... especially the older one. We have always been really close, I know... she is just growing up, hormones.. cries at the least little thing. I'm sorry... I know you don't need to hear this crap but I needed to say it. 70% downloaded.... man this is a slow download. I better d a speed check... I really do think I need a new router. So, how is your day? Hang in there, J. As far as the 11 year old is concerned, she's 11 years old. In time, she'll look back at the time spent lounging with you and treasure it. Power outages are no fun. Well, they can be, but then you're having real fun instead of virtual fun. Glad your amp didn't have a mushroom cloud suspended over it. Give the kids ice cream just before sending them home. Win-win. Hope your day improves.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. There may be an adjustment on the monitor itself. Good luck getting through this ordeal.

There's an adjustment on the kids, but you may have to consult the manual for proper adjustment.
