Using Sonar X3e as my TD 12 drum Brain
HII have a TD-12 V drum and I just Purchase Sonar x 3.How can I use Sonar X 3 to edit my sound, I mean is it possible that when I am playing drum to pass by Sonar x 3 to create my own drum sound instead using the drum module of my TD-12. Thank in advance.Michou

My buddy in Kansas has a (I'm pretty sure) TD-12 set up in his studio and he can do what your inquiring about.
If I'm understanding you correctly....record into X3, split to tracks and edit as needed after you assign the midi drums plug-in that you desire.

Yes, it will take setting up the TD-12 brain to send the appropriate notes and/or a drum map in SONAR, the drum synth of your choice and an audio interface capable of low latency recording.

Just record the MIDI from your TD12 drum set and then insert any VSTi (soft synth) that produces the sounds you want for your drums. I did this all the time with my V-drums

This is how we've always done it here, too. Use the instrument's own samples for monitoring and just record the MIDI output. After recording, you can assign the MIDI track to any software instrument you like, even multiple sample libraries if needed or use some of the TD-12's own samples.
There are multiple advantages to this method. You never have to even think about latency. You're not limited to the stereo audio output of the TD-12, so you can have separate audio tracks for each drum.

But I’m not Shure to understand what you tried to explain to me by Use the instrument's own samples for monitoring and just record the MIDI output.
I am very new in Sonar I bought the program 3 weeks ago and I have to admit that I will have to invest a lot of hours before I can be comfortable with the software but it’s OK.
I bought the program to be able to edit my sound instead of using my TD 12 brain module so I believe that I will have to find the way to map my drum pad but how I will be able to turn off the sound module to pass only by Sonar ?
If you have any example or template that will help me.

You use those sound to monitor (without recording) with while you record the MIDI data in sonar. This is a good way to do it, because you will not have to deal with any latency issues. The MIDI data that is recorded in Sonar can be used to trigger any soft synth sounds CJ

Hi I use the TD12 as well for drums. The included Addictive Drums with Sonar X3 Producer has a template for the TD-12. That's one thing you can check out. It's all ready to go.
I use sounds from all over the place including Session Drummer 3. You'll really like what you can do after you become familiarized with the possibilities.
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Wow! Does it have a template for the TD-20, too? That's what I use. I haven't installed Addictive Drums yet--seems like a bit of a hassle, but I will get to it.
