install stuff in program files or the 32 bit Program files (x86)?

Just started running X3 in 64 bit now on Win8.1...on the new StudioCat computer.  Should I install all my stuff, like Toontrack, Dim Pro, etc in my VST folder in program file (x86)? 
I guess it doesn't really matter?  ...as my program file for 64 bit does NOT have a VST folder yet.  I presume my first VST or VSTi in 64 bit will create that folder... ?

    additionally, when I started Toontrack install, it was going by default to the X86, (which I could change obviously), using the custom install (to put the samples on another drive too).

    I just let Toontrack use defaults but did install the 64bit VST dlls in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Toontrack" and samples on a separate drive. The only Toontrack program that made it to "C:\Program Files\Toontrack" was "Toontrack solo", the rest installed in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Toontrack.

    thx Scook.   I'm under the impression it doesn't really make a difference and the actual program will make its' own decision and still work fine.

    The convention is that 32-bit programs live in Program Files (x86), and 64-bit program files live in Program Files.
     
    I have 2 active hard drives on my production DAW, and the primary drive (C:) has the OS, application programs, program data and appdata.  All sample libraries, projects, and audio data live on the second drive.
     
    I have an additional internal drive that I use for periodic cloning of the C: drive, and I have 2 external drives that house backups - one is kept onsite and the other offsite.
     
    Lots of choices for where you put things, I hope the above gets you thinking about what works for you.
