Stackridge Tonight
George Martin's former prodigies at Abbotskerwell Village Hall, deep in the Devon country side. - Should be a hoot! "With a fleeting glance at the local dance and a cloud of dust in the morning"

Yes - for a couple of weeks. The Gig was excellent and I got the lowdown on how they came to be playing at such an obscure and apparently financially unviable venue. It was the 60th Birthday party of a long-time fan who runs their merchandise stall at gigs and he booked the band and put tickets on sale to the public for a mere 10 quid. I am guessing but there were about 200 in the audience. The current live line up - Andy Davis ( Guitar/Vocals/Ukulele /Keyboards), James Warren ( Bass Guitar/Vocals),Clare Lindley( Violin/Guitar/Vocals/Ukulele),Eddie John (Drums/Ukulele/Glockenspiel) and Glenn Tommey ( Keyboards/Vocals/Trombone/Flute) The support was DLM Andy Davis (Guitar/Vocals), Clare Lindley( Violin/ Vocals) and Brian Mullan (Cello) DLM were very good and certainly more than “Stackridge LE” As for the Stackridge set “God Speed the Plough” was powerful and showed off the talent of the band. Clair Lindley’s effected violin solo on the heavy “Cold Tea” stood out for me. And we heard “The Road to Venezuela” with the non PC version of the lyrics. A great evening all round.

Sounds like it was really something for the weekend! A victory for common sense and friendliness at the forbidden city, yes? Did Mr. Mick bring the man with the bowler hat? I'm sure that the sex and flags at this extravaganza made sure you didn't hear people ask anyone for tennis. The last time there was an obscure Stackridge concert, people ended up drinking beer spiked with acid and claimed to see purple spaceships over Yatton. Hopefully your night wasn't quite that weird!
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

The guy's nephew just had an email read out on Johnnie Walker's Sounds of The Seventies on BBC R2 this afternoon, saying what a great gig it was, and Walker then played 'Dora The Female Explorer'

Oh, and I liked the bit were Clair Lindley said to James Warren, "I like the way you sing "even when I'm old and grey", like that is some time in the future!"
