Has anyone used Harmonic Improvisator in X3? (resolved thanks to scook)

I would like to try the demo and all the "installer" seems to have done was provide documents and a .dll.
I copied that into the CW vsti folder and the scanner found it okay but it doesn't show up in the new plugin layout I created.
In plug-in manager (in the list column where one adds a plug-in to a new lay-out menu) it shows up but is green in color unlike all the rest which are blue.
Any thoughts?
Thanks very much,
Randy

It seems from the vendors website that there are known issues using this in 64 bit systems. The blue/green colour of the plug ins in your menu tells you whether they are 32 or 64 bit plugs. 32 bit plugs are also stored in a different location to 64 bit, so your 64 bit scan is probably not picking it up unless you have directed it to where it is installed.

When installing 64bit SONAR only, the bundled 32bit plug-ins are installed in the same directory tree as the 64bit plug-ins. The location does not matter as long at the directory is in the VST scan path. The demo version of Harmonic Improvisator is a 32bit plug-in so it will show up in green with (32-bit) appended to the name in the browser. I do not use custom layouts. After copying the plug-in into "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Harmonic Improvisator", the scanner found it and displays it as a 32bit VST2 FX using the "Default All Plug-ins" layout.

Thanks guys, after I posted this I left for a while and shut down my DAW...came back read your replies and opened X3 and it showed up but can't get any sound using what should be the "built in synth" but I'll mess with it tomorrow.
Steve, you said After copying the plug-in into "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Harmonic Improvisator...
You don't mean there was already a folder there named Harmonic Improvisator do you?
If you do will you please PM me? Or actually if you are able to use it can I get you to PM me please sir?
    Thanks again my friends,
    Randy

I created the folder to install the demo to respond to your post. In general, with X3 there is no need to configure a plug-in as a synth. FX plug-ins which send/receive MIDI need to have the appropriate options set in the VST header menu of the plug-in. Because this is a 32bit plug-in, in order to get the standard VST header, hold the shift key while opening the plug-in UI. Usually the VST header opens behind the plug-in UI. If this does not kick start your ability to use the plug-in let me know and I will re-install it and see if I can get it going. I don't buy 32bit plug-ins so it would have to be something special to get me interested in it.

scook and I decided to keep this discussion offline until it was resolved.
As it turns out it seems the product has not been well maintained/updated as it wouldn't play in any recent version of Sonar.
scook went way beyond the call of duty and installed it on his machine and finally figured out that it would indeed make sound in X1 producer expanded.
I went to my CW account, downloaded it, installed the program files only along with the patches and lo and behold it seems to work.
My sincere thanks to Mr. Steve Cook (scook)!!!

You are welcome. It may be the demo has not been maintained and the full version has. The vendor or someone with the full version would need to check it in X3. It does not appear to be a 32bit plug-in or BitBridge issue.

CW should just change the name of this forum to Ask scook.
