ages ago they advertised when you bought everything you got free updates for it all AND the new updates ? just curious if that applied.. They seem responsive when I contacted them in the past, with other questions.. like that in a company.

I might wait till christmas one year, as they like doing xmas sales as well.

Yes, all updates and additions are free. It is not limited to the TotalBundle, when plug-ins are added to any bundle owners of that bundle get the new plug-ins for free. Owners of individual plug-ins get updates for free.

    Thanks for the update scook

The installers had me confused at first because you must tell it to un-install prior to telling it to update. The new install routine was cool that it lets you choose default styles, window and text size. The UI is now somewhat size-able and being able to make fine adjustments using the middle wheel is cool.

So far it seems like they did a great job on the updates.

Wow, this is a MAJOR update for these plugins ... I like Melda's stuff, but never really cared for the GUIs.  Welp, this new version redoes all the GUIs and makes it very easy to configure them using various templates.  It's great!  Well done, Vojtech, and thanks for the heads-up, scook!

Thanks.  Nice more colorful GUIs, or at least on some of them.

I like Meldas stuff, too. The only downside is many of them are CPU hogs. I've never been able to use the MBHarmonizer, for example. So I've decided I don't look to Meldas direction anymore until I get my PC upgraded, which most likely means "never".

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

CPU usage is my primary complaint with Meldaproduction stuff, too. That and the sometimes-obtuse UIs. But in terms of bang for the buck, Melda's pretty hard to beat.

The free upgrades for life policy means a lot to me, since I bought the Meldaproduction stuff back when I was much more affluent than I am today! I was once a Voxengo fan, but stopped upgrading when it got too expensive to keep up.

Now the bad news, at least for me. I installed the version 8 update for MDynamicEQ and it's totally whacked. The plugin takes forever to initialize, comes up with a partial display and is then unresponsive. SONAR then hung when I tried to close the project (a nearly-empty test project).

Note that the version 8 install requires you to uninstall your existing Ver. 7 plugins and re-scan your VSTs. Theoretically, this should not impact existing projects because the new version uses the same CLSID and therefore looks like the same plugin to SONAR. Existing settings and automation should be preserved, and you do not have to re-authorize. These points I was able to verify.

Unfortunately, the update has broken every project that I've ever used this plugin in. Hopefully, uninstalling and reinstalling version 7 will fix me up. I'll do a little more experimentation first, though.

Try disabling GPU acceleration at the bottom of the Settings menu. GPU acceleration was an issue with earlier beta releases and SONAR which was addressed in an X3 update.

While the install procedure recommends removing the old version before installing the new one, it is OK to install over the previous release according to the "Known compatibility issues" section in http://www.meldaproductio...anges/?id=MTotalBundle

I didn't do this.  I selected the "Update" button instead of Uninstall and everything went pretty smoothly.  No problems with the new plugins here.

I hope you get yours fixed ... I like the new GUIs a lot better.

They sure make it appear as though the uninstall is not optional. If you skip it, you get a severely-worded warning about it being "strongly recommended". Perhaps they're just being overly cautious.

I went ahead and re-installed version 8 without uninstalling 7. It put me right back into the same messed-up state.

The suggested GPU acceleration option is unavailable because the Settings button does not get painted. I've found no obvious setting for this in the registry or any INI file. Is there perhaps a shortcut key for the Settings button?

This does appear to be graphics-related, because when I click on random places various dialogs pop up all over the screen, even jumping over to the second display. At one point I actually saw the "Enable GPU Acceleration" option appear, but was unable to register a click on it.

So did you ever un-install 7 before you installed 8?
After you installed 8 and opened a plug did the setup screen appear that allows you to pick a style, colors, set window and text sizes?

I know it kept giving my win 7 x64 fits until I finally un-installed 7 then installed 8, now all works well with the 3 Melda plugs I have. I also have Sonar x3 set to scan when I open it and I am using the VST3 versions...

I cannot find a shortcut or the GPU setting myself. Hopefully Vojtech will get back to you.

Looks like there is a reply on the Melda Forums about disabling the GPU. The reply is to a poster that is describing the same issue as bitflipper.

Yes, a very similar issue. Probably for good reason.

Re: Melda Production annouced 8.0 update 2014/04/15 19:10:18 (permalink)
The solution was adding an xml file containing
    <GPU Enable="0"/>
to the folder containing the xml preset files. This prevents the GPU acceleration from initializing. It seems to be working just fine now.

It would be nice if he's able to figure out what the problem is because ver. 8 is more CPU-intensive than ver. 7. I opened a project that had 3 instances of MDynamicEQ. Under V7 I could enable the sonogram display on all three with no playback problems (~50% CPU), but under V8 the CPU meter jumped into the red and could not play back without dropouts if any of the sonograms were enabled.

Fortunately I don't use the sonogram often, but it can be handy for zeroing in on vocal resonances, which usually involve not just the fundamental but the first 3-4 frequencies of the harmonic series as well. The sonogram display makes it easy to see which ones are significant, and to precisely position dynamic filters over each of them.

FabFilter plugins are also GPU-accelerated, but they've never given me any trouble.

Glad it is working for you. Too bad the feature has to be disabled; it is supposed to reduce CPU usage. Maybe it will be addressed in a future release.

See my edited post above - CPU usage is higher in Ver. 8, so it really could benefit from the GPU acceleration.
