Muted clips much easier to see in 8.5, is there a fix?

In 8.5 muted clips have an icon of a red circle with a line through it. THis makes it so easy to tell which clips are muted. In X3 there is no icon and the clip is only very slightly a different shade of charcoal. This makes it hard to tell if it's muted or not even looking right at it. What can be done to make this better?

Nothing I know of, other than adjusting monitor settings for contrast or gamma.

Speaking of which...I had never calibrated my monitors but I finally did. Wow, what an improvement...I'm kicking myself for not having done it earlier.
