Gigabyte Brix / Zotac ZBox good enough as note book alternatives ?

Good for simple site recording with Sonar ?
Or for small gig setup, running soft synt / drums.

You have to add your own memory, hdd and display. Only USB 3 ports.

    Just an update, from tomshardware.

Zotac updated the ZBox with Haswell

If I have some free time, I'll probably compare notebooks with similar processor and see how the Brix/ZBox stack up in pricing.

Interesting, Is there a processor in there? Seems it doesn't include much. I see the words i3 in the title but they don't say much about the CPU.
I guess it's size is it's best attribute.
Would make an interesting replacement for a laptop for giging. I was looking into using a tablet with a touch screen. This would have a lot more horsepower for sure and all you need is to add a touch screen monitor. Looks like half rack size too, would go beside my little reverb box.

Processor is included. Memory and storage is not.

Currently, Zoltac's top of line ZBox has an Intel Core i7-4770T (quad-core, 2.5 GHz) (Up to 3.7 GHz, Turbo), according to the spec, with Intel HD Graphics 4600.

    Gigabyte Brix.. (i7-4770 "R" ? up to 3.9 GHz.. )

Other than the actual small size of this unit (portability/space saver), I don't see the advantage of using this. For just $200 - $600, you can easily get a desktop (or laptop) with monitor and everything else included in it.
