Sonar X2a - Is it supposed to do this?

Hello.  I am running Sonar X2a on a computer running Win 7 x64.

I have noticed that I get a quick and not very loud burst of white noise static thru my audio output when Sonar completes either a Bounce to Track or a Bounce to Clip procedure.  I think I get the same phenomenon when completing other Track View editing procedures, but I don't immediately remember which other procedures result in this.

Anytime Sonar completes a Bounce to Track or Bounce to Clip operation, I hear a quick little fffft from my speakers.

Is this normal Sonar behavior?

Thanks.

I do remember this in some versions of Sonar. It's kinda like the buffer of sound getting flushed. I don't experience it in X3.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

I don't know if this will help, you might want to try run/stop/start the audio engine.

check the doco's, this may help if your scenario is mentioned here http://www.cakewalk.com/documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR%20X2&Req=Mixing.61.html&Lang=EN

Also, has it just started happening (what's recently changed on your system?), does it occur on new projects or has this always been occurring, (if you can consistently reproduce the problem, why not report it as a bug. bug is a bug and should be fixed X2 should still be supported)?

Best to test it on a demo of X3 to see if it is fixed (if indeed it is a bug). Sorry X2 bugs will never be fixed.

And update your audio drivers and firmware.

Today, when working with TH2 as a SoftSynth I experienced the behavior where a sound in the cache from the looper in TH2 played at the start of a real-time bounce to tracks unless I clicked the audio engine reset button first.

I think I remember posts saying that this is a feature of certain VSTs... Again, it seems less common since the VST3 work, but I guess it's still possible.

Hello.  Thanks to everyone who replied.

I think I have noticed this "fffft" sound occurring after every Bounce to Clips or Bounce to Tracks I have done - in other words, this is not new behavior.  I think it occurs with both new and old projects.  I have also noticed this behavior when doing other editing task in track view.

I will try the start/stop/start audio engine, and check on some of these other things, and report back.

    Thanks again.

Sorry to hear this. No it is not normal. I have and still am using X2 (since it came out) on some projects with no issues like yours. My computer is also a Win 7 x64. Here are a couple things that come to mind. The normal Win 7 sounds are turned off on my computer. Sonar goes through my Focusrite I/O. Maybe you have another I/O to try to hash out the problem? Reinstall X2. And yes, try the X3 demo. Good luck. X3 is great too if the demo fixes everything.
