V-Vocal. little red circles with a red line thru it?

I get them sometimes after bouncing the clip. What are those and how do I get rid of them?

When you invoke V-Vocal, it creates a duplicate of the clip and mutes the original so you can get back to square one if it all goes tits belly up

The clip you're looking at is the original muted clip. All muted clips have the same symbol, V-Vocal or otherwise.

If you enable layers on the track you'll see both clips, V-Vocal & Original.

It's probably not a good idea to get rid of them. They're there as a backup, in case you decide later to un-do your VV edits. I used to delete them to be tidy, but learned my lesson when I later noticed some ugly artifacts and did not have the option of reverting to the original clip to re-do the edits properly. If their presence bothers you, you can either slip-edit them down to a sliver or move them to another track and hide it.

Bitflipper is right, however when I am working on anything of significance I save sequential project files all the time, e.g, mysong1, mysong2, etc. I've run into corrupted files issues from time to time. At any rate, as long as you do this, you essential can go back and grab old clips. So, for me, I delete those visually annoying files. I suppose it would be cool to have a "hide this clip until needed" command. Maybe it has one?

Ok very cool. I love that they got saved at a bounce clip and I can slip them out.
    Thanks!
Why did only some of the ones I edited and bounced do that?
    Are the other hidden somehow?

At least for me, V-Vocal for no reason that I can tell, randomly will put either the muted original clip or the new V-Vocal clip in front of the other, with about one third of the clips visible being the muted clip. Look behind those other ones and they may be there.

Yes, it's been a long-time annoyance that SONAR does not let you change the Z-order for clips. It's not just V-Vocal clips, either. Any time you have overlapping clips you should be able to push the topmost one to the back. There does not seem to be any rhyme nor reason for how SONAR determines which clip to display on top.

Found this older post, though it might explained what i needed to do,
but if I want to rid V-Vocal from the clip, and I want to restore the original (the one with the red circle with the
line thru it) how is that done? Basically i want to get rid of the circle with the line through, and reinstate the original.  V-Vocal was working great now it's crashing. (We don't need to go into that here,
as this is common knowledge) My problem was i didn't know it was going to crash and i saved my project,
    so can't use undo.
    Thanks
    Rob.

I upgraded from 8.5 to X3 and I really miss the red circles with the line through it. That really made it easy to spot the muted clips. X3 with the default settings, no longer has the red circles for muted clips. Is there a way to have them displayed in X3? THis post was originally from 2 years ago, I suppose that was X1.

X3 no longer keeps a backup of the original clip when you convert it to a region effect. This was a confusing and unnecessary workflow for most people. You can always remove the region effect later to go back to the original clip.

I've gotten in the habit of bouncing all V-Vocal clips as soon as I create them. Is this not necessary in X3 as it was in 8.5?

It was never "necessary" in any version of Sonar.

Some users found that it helped to protect against crashes but I personally have very rarely felt the need to bounce a VV clip
