Quick A-300 PRO Question
Before I get pounced on; yes, I realize there is a hardware section.
I just got an A-300 PRO yesterday to replace an M-Audio Ozone that has been slowly degrading over the past several years, and will say this is an impressive piece of hardware. First ACT controller ever that actually "just works" and the extra 7 keys are very nice. I have seen several folks recommend these in passing, and thanks goes out to the folks who made those posts. The only thing I think could have been better thought out was the placement and type of switch chosen for the power switch (a tiny three-position switch placed midway between the only two powering options makes me wonder if people aren't supposed to shut these off or something??).
So far, I have made no adjustments to any presets, but am curious if people do/have. The reason I asked (and the only one I checked) was the velocity curve. It is set to 1-Medium, but when I open Z3TA+2, several of the patches just using random to select them are way loud (like clipping 6dB, and even clipping 1-2dB with Z3TA+2's limiter enabled). I ended up shutting off Z3ta+2's limiter, and throwing Concrete Limiter on the track (limited to -2dB) just so I could quickly shift patches to check some more, and was seeing a gain reduction on a lot of patches ~20dB. (Some were loud with the old controller, but this is so obvious it stands out like a sore thumb.)
First, I am wondering now if this is normal (i.e. my old controller was that bad), or if I missed something in the setup (I have all updated software/drivers)? Second, I was wondering if others have adjusted any of the A-300's default settings or any other peculiarities I should be aware of?
