Meldaproduction MDynamicEQ 50% Off <strike>TODAY</strike> Yesterday, sorry

As you may know, Meldaproduction is offering a random plugin every day for half price through the month of April. Today it's MDynamicEQ.

If you've been thinking about snagging FabFilter Pro-MB during the FF 10th-Anniversay sale, but money's tight, you might want to consider this underrated gem instead. It does 95% of what Pro-MB does but it's just $46 - today only, then it's back to $95.

Bit, I always trust your recommendations, I ordered this EQ, and it is VERY GOOD. I have been wanting the Fab Filter EQ but the cost......YIKES. When you said this was 95% there I jumped on it. GLAD I DID. It sounds great, full featured and well worth the full price-the 50% price is a no-brainer for me.

I really like this EQ, and would pay the full price for it if there is a way to limit the number of inputs to 2. I use Mixbus (which I really like) to mix, but you can't open a vst with more than 2 inputs in it, it has it's own sidechain thing. Anybody have any idea how to limit the inputs?

Unfortunately the number of inputs (and outputs) is hard-coded in a VST. The DAW needs to know in advance how many inputs there are, so when the plugin is initially scanned it reports back the number of inputs and SONAR files that information away in the registry. It can't be changed on the fly.

FabFilter in the past has offered multiple versions of plugins for that reason. Pro-C, for example comes in four flavors: mono, stereo, mono with sidechain and stereo with sidechain. Timeless2 has two versions, with and without sidechain. But they've said they're getting away from that model and future products will only have one version. Pro-MB, which is very close to MDynamicEQ in functionality, comes in just one configuration: stereo + side chain (4 inputs).

What all that means is you're going to have ongoing problems with Mixbus until they figure out how to support plugins with more than two inputs.

Or if you can convince Vojtech to make a non-sidechain version. It wouldn't hurt to contact him and ask: info (at) meldaproduction.com.

Thanks for the reply, Bit. I got a reply from Melda on their forum, but they say it's gonna be up to Harrison to implement any changes.

The only negative I've found so far is that it hits the 1st CPU core pretty hard. I really love this EQ and now that Melda updated to version 8 the GUI is way better than their old style.
