Blank new projects

I have just reinstalled Sonar X1 LE on to my PC because it was having problems and now it's proving to be a real pain.
Whenever I try and open a new project I just get a blank window which will not respond. (Picture attached)
I have tried reinstalling the program a number of times and have deleted everything on my PC related to the program, but still nothing changes.
Cakewalk support won't offer any support so if somebody on here has anything to offer I would be very grateful.

Windows 8.1 64
Intel 2500k
2x64gb SSD Raid 0
8gb 1600mhz RAM

Thanks for looking.

Welcome!
The fact that the window does not respond makes me put my hands up. It's more than just a basic SONAR user error.
Is the LE also 64 bit?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Thanks for having a look!
No it's just the standard 32 bit.
I've been having more of a go at fixing this myself and have got a little further. When I open a new project the window now shows the correct items, but is still not responding. The problem seems to be coming from the bottom panel.

To get this far I started opening the tutorial projects to check they would load. Upon opening one, it displayed an error regarding the audio folder and asked to create it. It was after this point the new project window started populating, but still not responding correctly.

I've also noticed that none of the new project templates are available any more.

LE comes in both 64 and 32 bit. I have the 64 bit installed.
Do you have an audio interface set up?
Did you install the software as Administrator?

Ah sometimes programs do not delete everything related to a program when un-installing it. They leave stuff before so look for the Sonar folder where it was installed and anything Sonar on the computer and delete it all before trying to -install it again. If necessary that may also mean that you get up "regedit" and go through the registry with Find (perhaps Sonar in the search box) and Find Next (F3) and go through the entire registry before trying to install Sonar again. Programs do that all the time nowadays and leave the folder behind on your computer (and sometimes it is irritating to always find that stuff on your computer to clean out because they all assume that you will install their program again - and a lot of times a program is taken off for good on the computer.

I do it all the times nowdays but do not curse, all the programs written seem to do that anymore.

That is not ethics, but plain annoyance.

I am not saying that Sonar does that because I have no experience with that and it may well be that Sonar is different in that respect. I just haven't had a need to find out with Sonar.

Please excuse my late reply, I've been traveling.

I am running the 32bit software on my 64bit Windows 8.1 machine. I don't have the 64bit version as I'm just using the disc that came with Roland Duo-capture EX. I would like the 64bit version.
Audio is set up properly as far as I can tell, but I can't test because of the 'New project' problem.
I am the Administrator for the machine, so the answer is yes.

As for cleaning the registry, I always run CCleaner after uninstalling any program so hopefully that takes care of that?

I shouldn't admit this but, I downloaded a copy of the Producer version from a filesharing site just to check, that loaded new projects with no problem at all. (Crashed a few times, but I don't about that) I uninstalled, ran CCleaner and re-installed my LE version from my disc, and again the 'new project' window fails to open properly.

All I want to do is record my voice for the English lessons I do for my school, this is proving way harder than it should be.

I would use a wave editor like Wavosaur or Waveshop for such a simple task.

I've been using Audacity as a backup.

The thing is, I bought the Roland because it came with Sonar, I really like the mastering tools and think it can produce much better results. Also, when I head back to the UK, I want to use it with my basic studio I have setup.

I've fixed it!!! I went on a massive registry editing mission after uninstalling the program again and reinstalled.
New projects are opening as they should!!!

Thank you spacealf!!!

Cactus Music may I ask where you got the 64bit version of LE from please?

Sorry, I was actually wrong about that. My computer is 64 bit.  I've since moved on and I used X1LE to upgrade to X3e Studio for only $98 Can. You will want to do this too as LE was almost useless to me after I played with it. It doesn't come with much and as you found out it is buggy, X1 Producer was buggy. They seem to have fixed most of this with X3.
You could get X3 plain for I think $49, Sign up for the e mails to get the special offers.
