Has anyone read the entire "Synth Secrets"?

I've gotten to article #22 so far and have loved every minute. I've learned more about synths from this old Sound On Sound series than anything else. Don't even mind the math involved, it's been like a mental workout! Would really recommend this series to anyone wanting to know more about synthesis.

Sounds interesting. I have never heard of it...a secret I guess:)

Who would have thought the lowly oscillator would eventually introduce such an epidemic of sound?

Just got done reading about formant filters, very interesting! We're onto modeling wind instruments now.

Nice one sharke, thanks for the heads up, hadn't heard of this either but now I've started the big read myself.

You'll probably find as you progress that you may feel like you have to do some extra reading to fully understand what's being discussed because although I rate these articles highly overall, he can be a little vague or ambiguous in places. And it's a pain to read them on your phone because you have to make constant reference to the diagrams, which have to be clicked on to magnify them and they're often miles away from the text which references them.

Math is not my strongest subject but it's not too difficult and I agree that he can be a little vague at times. I think that sometimes there is the assumption that the reader knows more than they do, I find that this is probably my biggest stumbling block. Electronics is my trade, so those sections I find easy, but I am finding some of the sections that relate to the sounds that can be produced could be a bit more fully explained. Overall though, I am finding it very interesting.

I guess the secret has been out for some time. I like that they put it all into one place like that.

Probably not the kind of thing for me to be reading right before bedtime. Looks like some of it is pretty heavy. Informative for sure. Thanks for sharing it.

When I analyze I can't create and when I create I can't analyze. If I want to play with synth patches It's best to dedicate an evening to just that. Anyone else have this problem? After about an hour of reading synth theory my eyes gloss over, my head drops, and I start dreaming about fairies, knomes and trolls in faraway lands. And if I'm attempting to make music and start tweaking something I forget the reason I was tweaking in the first place.
