SONAR X2 not responding to written volume envelopes

I must have hit some global "do not read automation" button somewhere because I can write envelopes on audio tracks but on playback SONAR does not read them. All of the "R" buttons are lit, the envelopes are showing on the tracks (I recorded them on the fly) but on playback the tracks do not respond to the automation. Help! I know it's some button I am missing.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

    Hi All,

Well - a learning moment for me (unless I hear otherwise - please post if I'm off the mark - please confirm if my conclusion sounds about right!).

Apparently just muting the MIDI tracks does not lessen the load on the CPU? Once I archived them all was well. All of my envelopes behaved correctly. I figure that was the problem - information overload. I have a very powerful machine, but it was a very large project. Please let me know what you think. (BTW - the offset button was not the problem).

    Thanks!

Yes, SONAR has to be ready for you to unmute a MIDI track at any moment, so the  synth is still active, and the audio is still being buffered up in the background. Soft synths are handled more like live audio inputs than MIDI -driven hardware synths.

If you're recording automation live from faders or moving the mouse, you can build up a lot of data fast.

Same here. I can see it but I don't hear it. I've had to save my project and then close and restart Sonar X3 Pro to get my automation to playback. Very annoying.

Too many guitars & amps.
