Touch-screen Functionality, Sonar X3, Complimentary Controllers?
Hello fellow Cake-walkers,
I will shortly be running Sonar X3 and I intend to take full advantage of its touch-screen functionality. As such I'm not sure how best to have controllers complement Sonar X3 touch-screen functionality for my more-or-less one man somewhat I.T.B. studio.
Here is what I already have:
(one) HP Envy Touchsmart M7-J178CA (17" touch-screen laptop)
(two) BenQ GW2750HM 27" LED display
(one) Acer T232HL touch screen LCD display
(one ) Roland XP50
(one) Casio Privia Pro PX-5S
(lots) The usual musical and computer miscellany
Here is what I may buy:
Roland A-800PRO (I can get a killer price so I'm tempted...yum)
Behringer BCR2000 (I can get a killer price so I'm tempted...yum)
The question I need answered is whether a Roland A-800PRO would be of much benefit as opposed to using my Roland XP50 in this scenario. You see the Roland A-800PRO has additional functionally with its sliders, pots, much better velocity scaling, much easier Sonar MIDI integration as opposed to the Roland XP50. That's not to say that the Roland XP50 is not a good basic non-weighted keyboard controller, and may well have a somewhat better key-bed than the Roland A-800PRO.
Also I wonder if the Behringer BCR2000 would be of much benefit (with or without the Roland A-800PRO) given that intend to try and use Sonar X3's touch screen functionality to the max, however the Behringer BCR2000 is very programmable, it's class compliant, has LED feedback and the magic of tactile response.
The additional cost of the Roland A-800PRO and Behringer BCR2000 is not an issue and I do not care if I never use my Roland XP50 again, as it's been sleeping for over a decade and I do not even know if the CMOS battery is still alive, nor for that matter how well the old thing has aged.
I am obliged!
