And that's one of the reasons I usually avoid reading the news before my second coffee, filter almost everything out and try to stick to more positive things, such as scientific discoveries and such.

Seriously, my wife told me about this immediately before I clicked on this thread... weird.
 
IDK, but I assume there is more to the story. The more I read, the more I think there is a LOT more to the story. At first I thought that maybe the kids were at fault and that the parents and others were running their mouths but now I see the real possibility of her being under the influence, of a cover up, and abuse of power. It does not look good. There is no way she can win this. Even if she were to get some money (really??) she will have absolutely no life among those who know who she is. How sad for all involved. I hope the truth comes out.
 
This lawsuit will likely backfire on her and result in charges being filed and her going to prison. They will get cellphone records, question why her husband (police) was following her, she was speeding, too fast for conditions, LOTS of circumstantial questions. Not to mention everyone will see her as the world's biggest jerk from now on. Win or lose, I think they are DONE in that community, possibly in Ontario. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy.
 
Life is hard. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone involved got together and tried to help each other get over the pain and loss instead of turning a tragedy into a disaster.

Aside from the obvious   I'm having a hard time with this part of the story which I will quote from the article 
 
" Simon's husband, a York Regional Police officer, was driving behind his wife that drizzly night, but little is mentioned about him as a witness in the police report. He pulled over when Brandon was struck, and shortly after both were allowed to go home. It was another witness who pulled over to tend to Brandon and called 911. "
 
WTF…man ….a professional law enforcement officer is following his own wife that ran them over ….. 
another witness helps the child …….where's the pro part of being trained as a professional officer ?  
they are trained in emergency response ………..they are trained to be able to recall details ……it's part of the Job 
the wife must have a serious hold on that dude

The day of the trial, an angry Mob surrounded the courthouse and suit was withdrawn.
