I keep looking for info on this AD2 somewhere, but there isn't much. I'm wondering if I upgrade to AD2 and then buy AD1 adpaks if they will also be upgraded to the AD2 spec (after the fact)? I only have Indie and Black Velvet and the new adpaks are pricey.

From what I understand, all the ADpaks you currently own will be upgraded for $79.99...that's what the "Upgrade" price is for. ALL the new ADPaks come with the AD2 Engine, so they will work without having to buy AD, but your AD 1 Adpaks won't be upgraded unless you pay the "Upgrade" Price. AD is now inclusive in the ADPak. So, any AD1 paks you buy, if you've already upgraded will be updated to AD2 and will work in AD2. If you buy an AD2 Adpak, but don't pay the upgrade price, then ONLY the ADPak you just purchased will work in AD2. All the others remain in AD 1 format. So the $79.99 gets ALL your currently owned ADPaks upgraded to AD2 format. If you want more ADPaks, NOW is the time to buy them....$39.20 at JRRShop... http://www.jrrshop.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=adpaks&order=relevance&dir=desc

Yeah, I'm wondering if I should just keep buying the AD1 adpaks for awhile...(since they will likely get cheap on KVR) and wait to upgrade after I have the ones I may want. I just got AD with the SX3 upgrade and have only had the chance to use it on one song. AD1 sounds good...ya know.

Here's what the official AD2 site says: Will I be able to use my ADpaks in Addictive Drums 2? When you upgrade to Addictive Drums 2, you get updated versions of all of your existing ADpaks in the new Addictive Drums 2 format for free! All of the presets in the "v2" ADpaks have been updated to make good use of the Addictive Drums 2 engine. We hope they will feel fresh and new again and that you'll have fun re-discovering your existing ADpaks.

I've got all of the xlnaudio info. My question is...AD1 adpaks are still on sale until the end of the year (if I understand correctly) and xln will continue to support AD1 for now. So I buy the AD2 upgrade and all of my two adpaks get a free upgrade. Then I get a sweet deal at KVR for AD1 adpaks. Will those get a free AD2 upgrade when they are installed, or will they only work in AD1. This isn't a complaint, it's an honest question. I'm still considering adding a few things to AD1 and it may be better to wait on the AD2 upgrade until I have everything. I've already been seeing an increase in AD1 products over at KVR. I bet the "Fairfax kit will come with AD2 and that will be the only upgrade path. I'm waiting (not that I have a choice) for more info from xln.

That's actually a good question...
I would be of the assumption (bad word) that, since you already PAID the upgrade price that they would get updated as well...but that's that making a A out of U and Me thing...

Any ideas guys? Trying to update on the XLN Online installer and am met by this message
Cannot Install The 64bit and 32bit paths are equal Click on the advanced button to change this, then try again.
What dos it want to me to change?
I use 32bit, having ever selected 64bit, when I look in the advanced tab, the current installation path is C:\Programme Files\XLN Audio\Addictive Drum\
I have went with a default install a month ago and haven't touched a thing.

Look at the paths for the 32 bit and 64 VST's....if they are the same that is what it doesn't like...it doesn't want them installed in the same folder.
BTW...the Online Installer is down this morning...

Where do I see those paths though. From my screen dumps you can see that it just says C:\Programme Files\XLN Audio If I look further, they don't have a file for either 64 or 32, just Addictive drums.

Scoot, there are "tabs" at the top that says VST 32 bit path...and VST 64 bit path... THAT is where they probably are looking....

OK, I had completely missed the opaque tabs, and my screen dump unwittingly had them covered with a mini explorer menu. I only have a 32 bit tab, no 64bit, so how does this conflict. Thanks for the help by the way.

Did you opt just to install the 32 bit version?

I can't really remember, but I may have as my Windows is only 32bit. iF presented with a choice I probably went with 32bit to avoid a conflict. A bit ironic really I have intended on going 64, but not on this machine, so no need to install 64bit plugs on it.

Well that makes sense that, if Windows is only 32 bit that it would only install the 32 bit version... But then why would it give you "Path conflict" message?
Maybe it's trying to install the 64 bit version and, because it's only 32 bit, it can't and is freaking out... I'd contact XLN about it...
Or just try uninstalling and re-installing...and see what happens before contacting them.

Cool, I posted on their forum, but then posted here knowing that people like you would probably respond quicker. I just went to update my post on their forum and its down. I guess they are run off their feet with the launch. I think I'll wait until some dust settles. At least it doesn't look like I am missing the obvious, which I am good at (such as the 32bit tab). Thanks again for looking over things.

Can I just check one last thought. When I click on the 32bit tab it says 'Current path cakewalk\Vstplugins, but when I look there I can't see either addictive drums or addictive keys listed. Is that right or a clue?

Maybe....try typing in Addictive Drums at the end...
What I'm thinking is the fact that it doesn't show
C:\Program Files\Cakewalk (x86)\Vstplugins it's trying to install the 64 bit version there as well.. and THAT may be the conflict...
EDIT: It won't let you type after..you have to select...so create a folder UNDER that folder and then navigate here and it should be ok...

Apparently it was a bug with an 'older' installer I only installed on the 4th of April, so it was just a bug. AD and some otherstuff is downloading now, at 20kb/s. My internet is fast here, but not so fast from other countries. If others get this issue, download the installer again and install. No need to uninstall
