Grasshoppers
Hi, After about 3 weeks without having the time to sit at my piano I sat down and played some standard classical stuff just to keep my fingers in practice... and then just as I was about to close the lid and go to bed this tune popped into my head. Some time later I finally made my way upstairs to bed... and the next day I recorded it 'properly'. https://soundcloud.com/purplerhapsody/grasshoppers Hope you enjoy it! Cheers, Terry.

Very, very nice. Composition-wise it really works IMHO, and you've captured the live piano sound so well. Is that live room tone or a plugin? 'Cause it sure sounds good. As an aside, just like the last time I listened to one of your tunes I let it go to the next one in line... and this time it was Legions of Poppies - between these two I have to say your performances are really clean. I only wish I had that kind of technique and control!

Hey thanks Steve! Glad you enjoyed the piece. I record using a Yamaha Clavinova CLP-130 (about 10 years old!) without any effects turned on via a Scarlett 6i6. I then add some Waves Reverb (Hall) on the Send from the audio track when mixing down in X2. Cheers, Terry.

Love your work Terry. Grasshoppers, gotta love them. I had this vision of a second movement called locusts, with lots of swarming crescendos etc. Anyway, you can tell I was affected, very nicely played too.

Hi Terry , I'm gonna have to keep an ear on you …I like what you are doing your song and playing is very nice .. at times I got a Gershwin type of vibe and I really enjoyed when you started digging into the keys and played those thick lush ascending chords …. Kenny

Terry - this is a wonderful piece with great playing. I have always admired your work. I love the playfulness in the middle and end. Check out the pop at 1:30. The ending is beautiful.

Hi, Thanks for all the positive feedback everyone! Wayne - locusts, eh? Now there's an idea. I could do a third movement called famine too ;-) Kenny - lush ascending chords? Gershwin? Thanks for the comments and making my head swell ;-) Tom - thanks for listening! Jimmy - thanks. The pop is due to my new audio interface being unable to record more than a couple of minutes without having digital artifacts :( It's a Scarlett 6i6 and came highly recommended but my high spec PC doesn't seem to want to play well with it :( Thanks for the kind words! John - thanks for listening, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again everyone - including those who have listened but not commented - it's still appreciated! :-D Cheers, Terry.
