EZ
Here. Drummer releases new update tomorrow. There are goggle videos about changes. I've used it on many tunes and it's my fav although I like changing things up so I also use others. One new feature about it that I think is a fantastic feature is being able to make changes to a drum part on the kit rather than within the piano roll. For instance; the pattern on the hi-hat can be changed to a cymbal or any other piece of the kit by dragging it in the kit view rather than having to use the piano roll view. (changes can be made to the part there too- such as how the stick is hitting) This can be seen in their video #3. What a great new feature for anybody like me that thinks the piano roll editing is a PITA.

well, i need to upgrade several things anyway.... and i already have superior, which works just fine for me... problem is, one decision, always impacts another... and whether i keep my current sound card and spdif interfaces, or upgrade those. or upgrade cakewalk (finally) and upgrade the DAW to work as well with win8 as my current daw does with only 8gb ram and winxp.... all that stuff. i think EZ it pretty low on the priority list, and the cash flow is nil.

Hey bat, You produce some of the best songs on the forum so when the day comes that you do upgrade, I don't know how much you could improve on the quality of your system other than making things easier for you.
Rimshot Sonar Platinum 64 (Lifer), Studio One V3.5, Notion 6, Steinberg UR44, Zoom R24, Purrrfect Audio Pro Studio DAW (Case: Silent Mid Tower, Power Supply: 600w quiet, Haswell CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.4GHz (8 threads), RAM: 16GB DDR3/1600 , OS drive: 1TB HD, Audio drive: 1TB HD), Windows 10 x64 Anniversary, Equator D5 monitors, Faderport, FP8, Akai MPK261

it really is just about making things more streamlined, and of course, better sound where you can find it. i record at 24 bit/44.1khz.... i'd really like to bump it up to at least 48khz standard, and would like to play with 96, my card goes to 192k but i only use the DAW as a glorified tape machine anyway.... having a more powerful midi side for the drum programming would be a nice upgrade.

and getting back to spacy's thread, i bought EZ when i first moved to a VST drummer, and loved it. upgraded to superior, and loved that. IF i was into it for the first time, i think the EZD 2 would be a no brainer. as it is, i don't think i'll spring for the upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0..... i can spend that money better elsewhere now.

I agree bat. I can program drums w/fingers, playing pads, or live drums that trigger (or not). If I couldn't, I would be jumping on the EZD2 wagon now. I really hope that SD3 will be out sometime this year and want my budget $ to go toward that upgrade.

Jimmy, What are you expecting from SD3? For me, I'd like better kit construction and movable kit pieces in the mixer. Beyond that, not much more. But I'm a simpleton.

Ya, but I found it klunky. I admit it's been over a year or so since I tried it. Maybe it's improved since then?

I'm in no hurry. I mentioned it because of the new editing feature. For me that alone is worth the upgrade. There may be drum software that already does the same thing but it's the first I've seen. Lots of ways to do things but an already great program that has a feature to help avoid the piano roll view is good to me. Somebody was thinking.

Since we have a bunch of EZ users here... Am I alone experiencing issues when trying to use Toontrack grooves with other non-TT software? I am not talking about their proprietary mapping (which can be re-mapped easily) but velocities - EZ and SD seem to handle that stuff in a way that makes it practically impossible to use a track made of TT grooves w/ any other "drumpler". I tried using EZ Player to feed AD, but the results were very odd - even the timing sounded off. Sort of a pain in the neck if I wanted to use EZ to write and BFD or AD to render. If it were just a few minor things to adjust, that could work, but, unless I'm missing something, that really isn't the case. So I find myself wishing that the new EZ will offer drums that sound a bit more like Platinum Samples' Rock Legends or XLN's Indie and Classic Dry...

Hey Ed, For SD3, I would like to see a larger (bigger) user interface. The mixer is way too small for my eyes. I would also like to be able to pull in additional instruments without using XDrum. I know how to use XDrum but it would be great to just select an instrument (cymbal, tom, snare) from a complete list and drag it into the kit. I would also like some basic percussion (tamborine and claps) as part of the basic system (AD has that feature). I think the audio bounce options are good but it would be useful to have the bounced audio track auto populate tracks in your DAW instead of having to bring them in like any other audio clip. These issues are on my most wanted list.

There are a couple of really nice new features that might tempt me to upgrade. I particularly like the 'Jamstix' type approach to letting the software do some of the hard work. It's pretty cool that it's not only backwardly compatible with one's old EZX Libraries, it would appear that they can be used with all the new features of EZD2. I'm talking myself into buying this aren't I

Read the review on AskAudio this morning, and in spite of having just bought AD last weekend, I can't wait to upgrade EZ. I'm putting a lot of hope in those retro kits....

There's some nice features that are tempting. I haven't used EZD for years as I could never get it to sound that good. I'll probably hang fire until the SD ugrade though and see if it has the same features.
