Re: Sonar File Statistics
I have Sonar 6 Producer, and was looking at some of the File Info/File Statistics for songs that I have worked on. Most of the statistical info makes sense, however the stats for "Editing Time" does not. For instance, one song that I recently worked on says "Editing time: 497:49:39" and makes me wonder what this is supposed to represent. It would appear to be an hours:minutes:seconds format, but I'm quite sure that I never spent anywhere near 497 hours on this project. This made me think that perhaps the format is actually minutes:seconds:hundredths, which would then equate to a little over 8 hours and would make more sense. I then looked at another file's editing time stat and saw that it said 184:40:03, and this would equate to just 3 hours if the actual format is minutes:seconds:hundredths, and this didn't make any sense at all because I knew that I had spent at least ten times that amount of hours on the project.
Sonar's help file does not explain what the format actually is, and instead only states that Editing time is "The total time you've had the project open, from the time it was created to the last time it was saved."
I notice that if you simply open a file, the editing time will keep increasing each time you click on File Info/File Stats, but the end result is not made permanent unless you save the file. Okay, so I decided to run a short time trial to see if the format would make sense. Using the file having the 184:40:03 editing time stats, I found that after 10 minutes only the second field showed an increase of ten, so will have to assume that the second field is definitely minutes. After 20 minutes had elapsed, the 184 went to 185, which would be a correct incrementing for an hours field. As I said earlier in this post, however, the values for that field don't appear to make any sense at all. A value of 184 hours editing makes no sense for that song, and neither does the 497 value of the first file that I mentioned.
Does anyone know what's up with this?
