Studio:Live with Sonar?

The Studiolive is not a control surface for any DAW whether it be Sonar or any other.

You can use Sonar as your recording software or Capture that comes with the SL but then you still have to copy the files into a Sonar project.

I have used Sonar for live recording with my SL 24 without any problems.

Thanks for the replies. The A&H ZED-R16 is also on the radar screen. I like all the stuff that's built into the SL, but what really matters are the mic preamps and converters (assuming glitch free performance from the drivers).

Was not going to comment here as it seemed to be specific to the Studio Live.. but with the comment about the R16...
 
I think that the A&H would be a strong choice for what you are wanting to do. As you mentioned the converstion is really good and the pre's are even better.  This unit does act as a controller over most of the most common functions and using ACT (for me) gives control over plugins.  It is versatile in both the studio and live. I can be used stand alone if needed but will also track live into a daw.  While the unit does not have built in plugins ( other than the very effective eq), It does accommodate for the use of one's own choice of  external hardware effects/processing units.  
 
It can act as an effective FOH solution and has enough routing in live situations to accommodate foldback feeds and other custom mix feed requirements. All while recording up to 26 channels into a daw (using ADAT and a ADAT unit) The sound quality is superb as is the build quality at its price point.  I recommend the unit highly...
