Harrison Mixbus or Sonar?

You decide. I'm still getting used to MB and the good news there is MB works with Zoomtext so I don't have to struggle to read it.

It's not completely fair as I'm not using the same plugs.

Version 1
Version 2

I'm liking MB but I don't think it will replace Sonar. Time will tell as I'm giving it a good chance.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

    Number 2.
Whichever it is, stick with that one. ;)

Thank you so much. You are the first I have seen on this site to post a comparison

2 sounds better but more processed. First one sounds very raw

    #2...no question...

It sounds better...the guitar sounds better.
It sounds more "Polished" to my ear...

To be fair...all factors must be equal...

No using plugins that can't be used in both, and the mixes
must use the same processing.  Otherwise the test is null and void.

I'm listening on tiny computer speakers, but number 2 clearly sounds more finished.  And that song is very interesting.

No. 2 is the MB version.

I took the project in Sonar, saved it as another name, removed all the effects and EQ and generalized the mix so it was sort of an ok mix. Then exported the stems.

The only thing I would do different is more care with the drums. I ended up having to export the cymbals and ride because they were buried. I won't be able to do recording in MB as the UI isn't good for me. Mixing seems to be ok as I'm figuring out a workflow that works for me. I wish I could have a send from one buss to another or, I haven't figured that out yet. I think I'll be mixing all my stuff like this. BTW, for this track, I only used ITB stuff with the exception of Waves Rverb and ARC 2. I tried using Gverb but it was just way to dark and at the time, was trying to mix without using Zoomtext. I like that triple delay thing a lot which I used on the lead.

Thanks for the comment Jude. The music is simple on purpose as it's the words that are the true focus. It can mean anything really but the lyrics during the lead are the clue as to what it really means.

Yup. And that's what makes comparisons a bit pointless - though certainly interesting - since the channel eq and compression as well as the rest of the goodies built into MixBus are the major selling factor.

IMHO, the thing that really matters is, admitting that you have access to all the same 3rd party tools in both, in which environment do you get the best results...

I am finding I like the MB environment best for the mixing. The built in compressors and EQ are really good and I don't have to use other 3rd party stuff.  I have a lot of the IK stuff and may use them as well.
