Lag when arming record

I am in Windows 7 64 bit with Sonar 8.5. When I arm a track to record, it takes about five seconds for record to turn red in the track. HELP

This is either one of these listed below or all the above listed below or 2 of the 4 listed below or 3 of the 4 listed below:

    1. A PC issue (BIOS or MOBO or lack of having a decent PC)
    2. A sound card issue (or lack of having a good sound card)
    3. A sound card setting, like your  I/O buffers, driver modes, and driver mod settings and updates to the sound card.
    4. A graphics card issue

This used to occur with some RME sound cards. Do you have a dedicated soundcard and if so which one?

I had this issue and it was largely mitigated by upgrading my RME driver.  What is your audio card and are you running the latest drivers?

This is the type of thing that requires a little more detail.

    Most importantly...
System Specs (CPU, RAM, hard drive speed if possible)
    Interface

Also is you computer one of those prebuilt jobbies that had Windows (and a bunch of other gack) installed or is it a clean install. Did this issue just start out of the blue or has this been happening since you first started using Sonar.

Lots of variables to consider. Otherwise this'll all be guesswork.
