This has been one of my best purchases. I'm not able to treat my room and this has been a major time saver.

These rock bottom prices concern me in a way, sometimes they happen as a fire sale before a company closes it's doors... Just sayin observin...

These enormous reductions in price by IK are just what we were speaking about in another thread. I used to be in much the same boat as Clint and could not treat my room properly to give any real benefit, so I purchased ARC quite a few years ago - it cost a great deal of money back then. I even spent more on the upgrade a few years back. Now its on sale at probably less than what I paid for the upgrade. So now it seems safe to say, whatever price IK release a product at, wait a few weeks / months and it will be on sale for a fraction of this price. So they obviously value their own products at far less than the price they initially try and sell them for, which seems a little disingenuous to say the least - I wonder what they think of people who actually pay full price....Like Me!!!!

ARC2 was 99.99 less 25 in "Jam Points" when I upgraded. The JJ price includes the mic, not just an "upgrade" to ARC2? Maybe they had some inventory and wish to close it out? EDIT FOR: FACT CHECK END FACT CHECK Looks like the "upgrade" not the mic and software to me. Just sayin'... We ALL (well most all) tend to bash IK a bit, lets be "fair" children! T

It is not the upgrade. You need to be logged in to see it. It's ARC2 with mic etc.

This is not an uncommon practice and it's been the rule in brick and mortar places like department stores and their clothing pricing forever. For instance UAD plugins also follow the same "buy now at full price or wait and eventually get it at a huge discount" pattern for every new plugin they offer. CW bundles plugins with Sonar like Dimension Pro that they used to charge for. SW is interesting because once the primary coding is done the production costs become trivial, so if reducing the price after a while brings in more money from people who wouldn't pay full price it's a win for them. The trick is balancing that with the fact that many of us can wait for the discount if we know it's coming. The people who pay full price get to use get to use it now. Those who wait can save money. I don't see that as being a bad choice.
In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

I think I got it for $149 a few months ago. It's been a huge help to me and my room. I'm about to have to switch rooms again...so It's great for someone like me who works in less than ideal conditions. The sales that these companies have (including Cakewalk) can really wiz me off at times. I've learned the hard way to just never pay full price for things. The new IK EQs are a good example. I know other companies charge more for plugins that aren't any better than IK, but IK will eventually sale them at 50% off and we all know it. You can't transfer the license, so a new purchase with IK is forever...I'll wait for the eventual sell.

You can sell IK Licenses...it's $19...you have to buy transfer credit...and then pay for the transfer...

Drew is completely right. It's business.
Charge 3x what you pay to make product ( no matter what it is). Sell roughly over one third to make your money back.
Then have a small sale, it's all profit.
Still have product.left over? Fire sale: Half off! Everything must go!!
It's all profit.
All businesses' follow this formula in some way or another.

This is true ... sometimes. Depends on how you bought the license. If you buy a single plugin (like the new Neves) within Custom Shop, you CANNOT transfer the license. Says so right in the IK FAQ. Bundles and collections are a different story. Point is, IK seems to delight in making the whole product purchase / authorization / ownership experience as complicated as possible. If their newer plugins weren't so good, I suspect they'd have a tough time staying in business. Cheers, Eddie

Yes, it would be a shame if JRR were to close its doors. They are quite an excellent dealer of ours. ;) Sorry to be the wet blanket on your wishful thinking, though. We're doing fine and seems they are too.
