V-Vocal
Hi... just wondering how does v-vocal behave in x3.. does it still work ok?

For what I've used it for V Vocal has worked just like in previous versions. I still like it better than Melodyne.

Yes it does. I have old projects that use it. And I have tried it and Melodyne.
I prefer Melodyne. VV UI was never something I got use to. Just too small. Whereas Melodyne will fit to whatever size the multidock is. That's the first thing.
There are other things about the UI of VV that I never really liked, but I did get use to them.

Now that Sonar has Melodyne and I bought the upgrade, I use V Vocal.
I suppose that's because I used Sonar Xi Power Books to help me understand V V and experiment with it. But, there's also something about the Melodyne interface...I just don't like it yet, but I haven't really given it a chance either. I know it's powerful.
I use V V to adjust my vocal pitch as necessary, don't tell, and I use the Dynamics module to smooth out my vocal takes where I was either too loud or too quiet, too much or not enough consonant on a lyric, adjust sibilance, etc.
I love V V for what I need to do with it, and it works fine for me.

I tried to use vv yesterday and it crashed. Don't know why. I've been using melodyne and while the interface is lacking, the result is superior. There are certain things vv does better, but for most application melodyne is the best of the best of the best.

Yup, I have it go full screen into the multidock on 2nd monitor, same as melodyne. VV actually seems to work better in X3, much less flaky than it was in 8.5. Haven't used it much, but it hasn't crashed on me once, which was a reasonably common occurence in 8.5. It's it's still worth having for the draw tool, which I was amazed that melodyne editor doesn't have - seems like a big omission for what is largely considered to be the best programme out there.

I agree VV works better in X3, although it doesn't automatically generate a new clip while leaving the original muted. So it's best to clone a track and then use VV.
VV is more versatile than Melodyne Essential but Melodyne is more natural-sounding when doing things like creating harmonies. However, the Editor version of Melodyne is extremely powerful and well worth the upgrade if you do a lot of pitch correction or audio-to-MIDI.

Bit, I'm not at my computer right now, and can't remember exactly what it was about the size of the UI that I didn't like. But now that ya'll are saying it went full screen, I am remembering that it did but I didn't want to use it that way.
I think I ended up using it that way (full screen).
And let me state that even after being an original Auto-Tune user, I never found a need for anything other than VV once it came with Sonar. I did use it a lot, quirks and all.
Right now I am preferring Melodyne.

V-Vocal can be stretched or shrunk to whatever size you want. Also, more importantly maybe, you can zoom vertically & horizontally within the window, depending on how surgical you want to go with your edits
