Basic question about Melodyne's edit region

Let's say I have a vocal clip that lasts two measures, and I turn it into a Melodyne clip and start editing. During this tinkering, I decide that I want to move some of the blobs past the boundary of the clip. The problem is that in the Melodyne edit window, the region past the clip boundary is colored grey and if I move a note into the grey region, it doesn't sound during playback. I presume this is to separate those areas of the track which are played back by Melodyne and those which are played back by Sonar.

So how do I extend Melodyne's region? If I extend the Melodyne RFX clip by extending its boundary, the new clip size is not reflected in the Melodyne window - nothing changes. I realize I should have extended the length of the clip before turning it into a region FX, but is there any way to extend Melodyne's active region without losing my existing edits (and preferably without bouncing down)?

To my knowledge no. It seems that on region FX creation that audio is passed to Melodyne (and some SONAR functions disabled). It seems its boundaries are locked upon creation, but I am also not a Melodyne guru.

Sharke, this part of Melodyne works the same as V-Vocal.  Once you've selected your region, which is often an independent clip, but it can be just a highlighted/selected portion of a clip - then that's the audio data which has been loaded.  It's not going to do anything with areas beyond the selected region, and that makes sense.  If your selection has been too short, then you'll need to start over with a region the size that you actually wanted in the first place.

    Purt sure that's the deal.

Ok. It kind of sucks that you can't extend this region once it's been created - it seems like this should be one of the conveniences that ARA integration comes with, but ho hum!
