That was a great article Jerry. I also wrote an article in this months issue of Soundbytes about getting a more realistic MIDI performance. It touched on some of the same things you explained as well. Your writing, composition and MIDI sequencing are very inspiring and always a joy to listen to.

Thanks Mike, I read your article too and enjoyed it a lot. I suggested to David Baer that some people who contribute writings to SoundBytes go have dinner together, and then he informed me that he and I are the only people in the San Francisco Bay Area, everyone else is scattered on different continents! Hi, Jerry. GREAT interview, and I really like your compositions. I don't know if it matters much, but I happened to see the following at the bottom of your discography page: All music and recordings listed on this page copyright 1997-2010 Jerry Gerber You have listed albums with dates newer than that, and I am wondering if you might need to update your copyright statement to include the newer releases. :) I am a keyboard player who has used Cakewalk since Twelve Tone Systems, and I have a deep appreciation for the work that goes into realistic phrasing and articulation of sampled sound through the use of midi. I like it when composers keep a mental image of the range and 'playability' of things, such as remembering that sax players need to breathe once in a while, and that sort of thing. I wish I could recall the piece, but the significance of it has stuck with me for most of my life. There was an orchestral piece that was building and building and building, and at the very pinnacle of it all, every single instrument was instantly quieted and a single plucked note on the string on a harp became the most beautiful and intense single note I have ever heard. All of that built up energy had gone into conveying that single note as being the goal of all of it. There is great power in simple expression. In any case, thank you for the music, and for the interview. Bob Bone
