BiFilter2... Amazing!

Every now and then, when things are slow, I go exploring around areas in X3 Producer I don't usually go to see what hidden gems I might have missed.  Well I just found one: BiFilter2!

I was trying to salvage a rather ho-hum vocal track in an otherwise decent song, so I thought I'd go beat the Sonar bushes for something new.  Searching through untried plugins I spotted biFilter2, which I had never really checked out, and gave it a try.  I had no idea of the range and power of this thing!

I spotted a preset called FIL Formant and thought that sounded like something to try on a vocal.. so I did.  Wow. Sweeping the eq peak, and fiddling some other knobs I didn't really understand produced an effect that was perfect.  I automated the sweep, and transformed my ho-hum vocal into a part that led my song.

I am slowly figuring out biFilter2, and the wide range of sounds it can create, and it is definitely going on my effects A list. Nice sleeper.  Thanks Cakewalk!

I think Bifilter often gets overlooked because X3 came with flashier extras like AD and melodyne. I find it is for me the x3 plugin that is most consistently useful. I just forget at timesbit was included in X3 since I already had it. Highly underrated and truly the hidden gem in X3.
