Rikkie, I really like the sound of those guitars. Can you describe how they were recorded and any effects used?

Thanks Optimus, glad you like the sound of the guitars. I plugged my Lâg electro acoustic nylonstring in a Yamaha THR5A acoustic amp. This amp has some kind of mic modelling which sounds pretty good. I used a little bit of compression and reverb on the amp itself. The amp also has usb so it's also my interface. In Sonar I doubled, copied, the arpegiated guitar and panned it hard left and right and nudged one track 10ms to create a bit of stereo width. I narrowed the lead guitar with channel tools to leave a bit of space for the arpeggiated guitar. EQ is just a high pass filter on the masterbus. Rik

Thanks Rik. I was hoping that you had used mics and could offer me some secret technique :) I've been trying to get that sort of air into my guitars by just using mics, but without success. I have been avoiding the amplified route for the sake of authenticity, but maybe it's something I should try if the results can be as good as what you are getting.

that sounds real nice. your mix technique is working on this piece... you should try adding a nice synth bass pad underneath this, maybe a few more little ambient guitar sprinkles here and there, and a soft vocal.

Hi Optimus,I'm all for authenticity but this Yamaha amp sounds really nice. Hi Mark , thanks, glad you want it to be longer. I can t play much longer than this but at least I'm playing. : ) Hi BB, thanks, glad you like the mix. I like your suggestions, especially more guitar parts ; ) Rik
