Reid Sampson,
I'm sure that's incredibly frustrating.
If you look at this video..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Sb1ES7nyFsThe GUI I was mentioning is shown around 1:10 seconds into the video. I think it will be the same thing you found when you clicked 'open asio panel' from within Sonar.
I think you have all good stuff. I know that we can get your Quad Capture working with Sonar.
Trouble shooting where the problem is always takes a little time.
The product manual is here...
http://www.rolandus.com/products/details/1166/support/ Basically, We want to try to find where the audio is failing with the device.
Things we know...
- we can hear audio through the device when listening to a youtube video
- we can see level meter move on the front of the device when we play the attached instrument
Things we've tried
- Create a new Sonar Project
- Go to preferences and ensure we have the correct drivers selected
- Ensure we are recording audio files of the correct size
- check the playback and timing master
Next,
- Insert an audio track into the project
- select the track input on the Track Inspector and set it to the correct audio input on the device
- click the record button on the track
- click the input echo button on your track
If you have a microphone plugged in, you may need to switch on the phantom power on the back of the device.
If you have a guitar or bass instrument plugged into input 1, switch on the Hi-Z switch on the back of the device.
The GUI Control Panel gives you access to the compressors for the input channels. p31 of the user manual.
You can check the signal flow from the Device Menu.
...
Now, from within Sonar, if you play your instrument and do not see the level bounce on the track meter, you still have an issue.
At this point, try dragging a wave file loop into your project and playing the project.
Questions
- Does the level bounce on the track during playback?
- Does the level bounce on the master bus?
- do you have the master bus muted?
- what is the master bus output set to in the track/bus inspector?
