Process Effect on audio clips in Track View

Does anyone know why in Track View some audio clips will allow Process Effect and other have all effects grayed out? Am I missing something simple?
Clip position and data locks aren't on.
TIA

Are the effects grey out because the track is frozen? That could be a reason. Another reason may be because the effect doesn't have that option.

Without know exactly how you are doing it and what plugins allow it and what plugins do not allowing this, its hard to say for sure.

    Thanks CJ.
    Track/s are not frozen.
ALL audio effects are grayed out, no option to use any.  While another on another audio clip on another track I'm able to choose an effect and Process Effect. Not attempting to use an effect that wouldn't be allowed. Trying to use a simple limiter.
This is really weird. I've had a lot of crashing since X3e patch, I wonder if this is another symptom of something wrong.  I've never seen this issue before although I have to admit I don't use the Process Effect option on an audio clip very often.

Is the ciip being processed by Melodyne or V-Vocal? If so it would need to be rendered first.

Are the functional and non-functional clips always on different tracks, or does this happen on the same track as well?
Layers hidden? Groove clips? Linked clips? Any difference between the ones that allow clipFX and the ones that don't?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

I originally spent quite a while looking for any difference between audio clips that allowed Process Effect and those that didn't and couldn't find any. I will look again later today when I have time. I know there are no groove clips in the project, I checked for and didn't see hidden layers that could've been causing it, and I am almost certain there are no linked clips but I will make sure. It seemed to me that the functionality was on some tracks and not others, meaning more than 1 audio clip on a track would have the functionality and more than 1 audio clip on another track wouldn't. I will confirm this next time I look at the project, not entirely sure.
btw Kalle, my issue is with Process Effect, not ClipFX, but since you mention it I will look to see if there's a difference in that function too.
