Groove Monkee Updates
I was talking with GrooveMonkee today about missing Superior Drummer loops and found out all their MIDI loop packages have been updated for EZD2 and AD2 in addition to adding a Superior Drummer folder to all of their packages (which fixed my problem).

Scook Thanks for this - I didn't receive any notification from Groove Monkey on this. The Upgrade part is the good news I suppose - bad news I've now got to do another massive download and upgrade - only just about finished the Toontrack one!!!! At least the download part should be pretty quick! Cheers Nigel

The updates are new. I am not sure they have sent out a notice about it yet. The updates came up when I emailed them about missing Superior Drummer files. They are working on their website. The legacy accounts are a little slow ATM. Not only are there new formats for new drum synths (they claim new AD2 and EZD2 formats but I only saw EZD2 in my downloads), the Superior Drummer files are now added to the "other MIDI mappings" directory. So 17 downloads later, I have all my GrooveMonkee files. They have also removed preview directories from some packs.

EZ2 - I wonder if these are searchable by the tap to find function, that would make the EZ2 upgrade more appealing for me.

I installed the EZ2 demo on my laptop and one of the new Groove Monkee packs. It looks to me like the EZ2 Groove Monkee files do not get searched with tap to find. This is not unexpected, I had a vague hope Groove Monkee may have been able to make their files searchable. But the play style editor works, which is a great feature,

Thanks for posting this. i just redownloaded all my GrooveMonkee files and noticed that the EZD2 files are in a separate folder (Other Midi Mappings), and this folder is not installed by their PC Installer. I have not yet purchased EZD2, but wonder why GrooveMonkee has a separate folder for EZD2 . Maybe it did not install it because I don't have EZD2 yet, or maybe you have to do it manually? Don't know, just curious. Just asking, but did you install the EZD2 files in the "Other Midi Mappings" folder? Again, just asking? Thanks for posting your findings.

I wonder what difference the new ones make? I have the midi packs installed in EZD2 and AD2...they work fine.

I asked Groove Monkee is there was any chance that their grooves would be comparable to the tap to find function. The say that at the moment Toontrack are keeping the methods secret. Given that "tap to find" is the main reason I might upgrade the impetus to upgrade is reduced if only a proportion of my grooves will be searched. Hopefully Toontrack will enables some of the third party companies to make their files compatable.

i am starting to see where the fact that toontrack has the song creator and tap to find locked up to only toontrack grooves really limits the usefulness of these features. They are still better than nothing, but not as good as it could be. Especially has I have a ton of midi groove files. I know with song creator you can drag a third party loop in, but it will only match to grooves that you have purchased from toon track. I think this is where Jamstix really shines over EZD2 tools. Jamstix is wide open as a song creator tool. You can use a sample midi groove from any one and construct a complete song in seconds.
