MIDI Syncronization Issue With Music Creator 5..can anyone help??

Hello,

I have a Yamaha mm8 keyboard hooked up to my computer using a MIDISPORT Uno. I keep getting a delay between when I hit a note on the keyboard and the sound coming out of the speaker. I've tried adjusting the Latency slider and it hasn't helped. When I ran the audio profiler it oked everything in mme32 or whatever it is called, but still no luck. Can anyone help?

    Welcome to the forum.
What are you using to make the MIDI sounds? The Yamaha? Microsoft GS Wavetable synth? A software synth?
Does the Uno require drivers and did you download/install the latest version of those drivers?

Most of the cheap midi devices don't use ASIO drivers and that means you are using MME or WDM.....  which tend to have bad latency under normal circumstances.

ASIO drivers and a decent interface will solve that latency problem.

Just to clarify a little.  It's NOT the UNO Midisport that causes the delay.  that's just a MIDI to USB converter and there are no such devices which have ASIO drivers.

the SOUNDCARD is what needs good solid native ASIO drivers.

if you're sending MIDI to the computer to MC and outputing sounds using a softsynth (ex:  TTS-1, Soundcenter, SI Drums, etc) then you must have a good low latency soundcard or you will experience the high latency which is audible as a "delay" - it's not MIDI sync, tho, that's something completely different.

    What the Beagle said.
The delay is not coming from the MIDI part of the equation, it's from the audio.
MME is probably stable with the built-in sound card, but it gives the worst possible latency.
If your sound card supports WDM or WASAPI, you may get better latency using those modes.
Soft synths are entirely at the mercy of sound card performance, and ultimately, you will probably find that an interface is essential.
