where are my audio drivers?

Sonar Home Studio 4XL
Windows Vista Home Premium
Alesis Studio 32

Because of a large system crash on my other computer, I had to install my Sonar HS 4XL disks into my HP Vista computer.

Loaded okay, but tonight am trying and trying to "arm" an audio track but zilch! no response ... searched and searched though forums; said to check Options > Audio > Drivers. I see the boxes (both) that list drivers are blank and there did not get any drivers installed; perhaps this explains why I cannot arm any audio track?

I am getting clear ample loud audio into my system; Audacity "sees" it ... Windows recorder "sees" it ... everything else sees and hears it ... (am going "Line In" from my mixer) but my Sonar cannot arm an audio track.

Can you please confirm whether or not missing drivers are the issue, and how I may get them? or if that cannot be the issues, please suggest an alternate approach?

Thanks greatly!

What Driver Mode are you using?

I am selling my MIM Fender Stratocaster HSS, red and black. PM for more details.

Music Creator 2003, MC Pro 24, SONAR Home Studio 6 XL, SONAR  X3e, CbB, Focusrite Saffire, not enough space.
    Everything is better with pie.

Wow that mixer is so old there isn't any info about it on the internet other than E bay and one post on the alesis site asking for the manual.
So this means there are no drivers for it and it therefore uses MME mode, in other word Cakewalk will have problems.
I would imagine it is also USB 1.0? Or how does it connect?
Anyhow I would say that you are living on borrowed time here with using it as an interface and I would start looking into entering the new decade(s). You'll find huge improvements when you do. You could still use your mixers analog connections into a modern USB interface.

Only solution and it's not a great one, is to download ASIO4all and see if that works.

Okay, thanks greatly for those answers; appreciate the feedback; yeah some of this gear is old; Yes, I did get the mixer off of EBay some time ago.

Not sure what driver mode I'm using ...

    Well, I can work around it for now .. as I said Audacity sees and "hears" my audio tracks ok .. and also permits overdubbing .. and I am able to get that program and Sonar to "peacefully" get along with each other w/o too much trouble;

I'm waiting on the new HP Pavilion computer I just ordered (Windows 7) and once that's here, I might overhaul a few of old things here ... send that Alesis unit to a wax museum or whatever ...

    thanks, Michael
