[Solved] Mackie Control - No connection

I have the chance to get Emagic Logic Control (v1.02), which is the same as the Mackie Control, for a very good price and I can check it for a few weeks. Sadly I could not make it work at my desktop computer.

My setup is: Sonar X3e, 64 bit on Windows 7. UA Apollo Quad Audio Interface, Cakewalk A-500Pro as MIDI Controller and MIDI-Interface for the Mackie Control.

1. I Active all A-Pro MIDI Ports under MIDI/Devices (in and out)
2. Add a new Control Surface under MIDI/Control Surfaces: Mackie Control, A-PRO MIDI IN, A-PRO MIDI OUT
Then the ACT-module show “Connecting…”, but the connection could not be established.

I think the general setup should be correct. I double checked the cables and also tried another MIDI-Interface (Fasttrack Pro). The MIDI-leds on the Fasttrack are flashing. So there seems to be communication between Sonar and the Mackie Control.

There are some other things I noticed and that maybe could help to find the fault:
1. I use the A-500Pro as ACT-Controller which works well except that I always after starting Sonar the dynamic pads sending note information in place of control messages (Track up/down etc.). I have to open the control panel of the A-PRO in Sonar a switch ones from “Pads are notes” and back to “pads are button”.
2. I connected the A-500Pro with the connected Mackie Control to my laptop, set it up and it is working as expected!!!

Does anyone have a similar problem with the Mackie Control or an idea what is wrong with my setup?

Thanks.

After spending about a day with this problem, I finally found the solution in this thread

The configuration files ctrlsurface.dat and/or TTSSEQ.ini had been corrupted. The files could be found in c:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\SONAR X3 Producer\. After deleting you have to setup the MIDI, audio devices and control surfaces again. Now the Mackie Control and A-500Pro work as expected.

    Yippi! :))
