Drum mapping question

Hey everyone,

I've been a Sonar user for years (currently Sonar X3 Producer) but I've never spent any time with drum maps and very little time with MIDI. I have the included version of Addictive Drums and I also own BFD2. I love the grooves in AD but prefer the sound of my drums in BFD2.

How do I go about creating a drum map (or whatever I need) where I can drag the MIDI groove files from AD into that will play perfectly in BFD2? I've opened the drum map manager before, but I don't have a clue how to use it as it's pretty confusing to me.

Thanks

Open the Drum Map Manager and load the BFD2 map of your choice. This will cut down on the typing needed to build the new map because all the names and "Out Note" columns are filled out for BFD2.

Open the "Addictive Drums Keymap.pdf", the default location for it is "c:\Program Files (x86)\XLN Audio\Addictive Drums\Manual" or open it from the AD UI.

Adjust the "In Note" column to the values in the "Addictive Drums Keymap.pdf" and save the drum map with a new name.

Hey Scook, thanks for the reply. That sounds easy enough, but (and forgive my total ingnorance) how do I load the BFD2 map of my choice? Will there be a list from a drop down menu or something or do I need to load it from a location on my PC?

Sorry for the dumb questions. :)

There are several BSD2 drum maps included with SONAR.

After opening the Drum Map Manager, click New just under the heading "Drum Maps Used in Current Project". This will populate the Presets drop down in the setting section. After selecting a preset, I usually rename it imediately to avoid accidentally overwriting the existing preset. To rename the drum map, change the preset name and click the diskette icon to the right of the preset drop down. Then start updating the "In Note" column.

FYI, the location of the maps which populate the preset drop down is specified in Preferences > File > Folder Locations.

Thank you Scook. I'm away from my computer right now, so I wanted to get as many details as I could.
I truly appreciate your help. Thanks again.
