Audio FX list and flat panel TV for montor

I recently did a little remodeling/moving things around in my studio.  I moved my speaker/monitors over to my computer space since I do all of my mixing in the box now.  In moving my speakers...I had to stack my computer monitors one over the other instead of side by side because they made my stereo spread too wide.

I was using two 28" Hanns-G monitors and was perfectly satisfied with them.  BUT...with having to stack them, I didn't like the looks of the monitor, so I replaced the top one with a 42" Vizio TV (1080P).  I like the looks of it...and the large display it offers.  I use the bottom (28") for TrackView, inspector, etc. and use the 42" for CV.

But....when I right click in the FX bin in the CV (42") to bring up my FX list....the list covers the full height of the monitor...and does not show the little arrow which allows you to scroll down your FX list.  I have tried everything I can think of.  I normally have the screen display maximized but it doesn't matter how I size the CV screen on the 42" monitor, I still can't scroll down my FX list.  I have quite a few audio FX on my system.  I have Sony Vegas Pro and all of the Sony FX can be used in CW...so I have to be able to scroll down the FX list to see them all.

I have to highlight the track, and go to the Inspector and right click on the FX bin there....(which is on my 28" monitor).  I can then click on the arrow at the bottom of my FX list and scroll down to see the rest of my FX.

So bottom line is...I can scroll to see all of my FX in the list on my 28" computer monitor....but not on the 42" vizio TV.

Anyone else using a flat panel TV as a monitor experience this?

I'm not using a flat panel TV, but my second monitor has a smaller vertical resolution than my main monitor and if I open the ProChannel module list on that monitor then I have the same problem.

I have an LG TV that has to be set at a screen setting. Of 1:1 pixels rather than 16:9 , 4:3 etc for me to get a full computer screen. At 1920 x 1080 it cuts off parts of the computer screen. Have a look if your TV has a setting like that.

If pixels are cut off on an HD display, you probably need to adjust the "overscan" on your video card.

I also have 2 Hans G monitors. Mine are 1920x1200 (not 1920x1080). Could this be the reason you are experiencing less vertical resolution on your TV monitor?

Have you tried using your two Hans G monitors in portrait-mode, side by side?

Both of my Hanns-G monitors are 1920x1080.  Since the Vizio TV is 1080p I figured it would work the same.

I will check the settings for both the monitor and the video card.

    Thanks for all the replies...!

I stand corrected.  My Hanns-G monitors are indeed 1920x1200.  I checked my video card resolution today.  It shows my Hanns-G set at the max 1280x1200 and shows the Vizio TV set at the max 1920x1024.

I can live with it though.  Now that I know that all I have to do is add FX from the inspector which is on the Hanns-G monitor instead of trying to do it from the CV on the Vizio TV.

    Thanks again for the tips...!

Glad I could help. When you wrote that your monitors were 1080, I did a search on Hans G 28". All the monitors I saw were 1920x1200 (as are mine). That's what prompted the question.

I use the Han Gs in a workstation that is used for producing content for immersive environments. It requires viewing 1920x1920 video, which is why they are mounted portrait side-by-side. I suggested you consider this earlier because it would give you a smaller horizontal foot-print and allow your (audio)monitors to be closer together than side-by-side landscape.
