More Freezing Issues

I want to freeze a Scarbee Rick Bass part (Kontakt) so there is no MIDI latency when I mix.  When I freeze the synth, I get abrupt cut-offs and clicks (pops) at the end of phrases.

Any advice?

Well, for whatever reason, the way to fix this was to bounce the MIDI clips (Clips | Bounce to Clips) so I just had one long MIDI clip.  The ends of the clips were the places I got clicks.

Sonar shouldn't do that but at least I have something of a work-around.

Sounds like your MIDI clips were shorter than enough to cover the decay of the notes.  When you froze the track, the audio was following the length of the MIDI clips literally.  When you bounced your collection of clips into a solid clip, the synth notes had the chance to perform their entire delay since there were no longer the empty gaps between notes.

I had the same problem...multi clips (on the same track) = problems....one long clip = no more problems

Interesting, thanks.  In the future, I will put some harmless MIDI event (like pedal off) out a half-bar from the end of note.

But why were these notes on individual clips?  I guess you're not playing the line from a keyboard, but even if you hand insert the notes one-by-one in the PRV, that would result in one MIDI clip, and not dozens of individual clips.

No need to add dummy MIDI events - just drag out the MIDI clip at the end.

My standard practice is to select the entire track, use bounce-to-clips to convert it to one big clip, and then slip-edit an extra second or two to the end of it.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Reason they are separate clips:

I work in Staff View. Easier to do a section, paste it, and then edit the pasted copy instead of drawing every note.

Easy enough to bounce to one clip now that I know. I just need to ensure the clip extends well beyond the last note. Thanks.

This doesn't make sense to me. I tried to duplicate this with three separate MIDI clips in a track, driving an instance of PianoTeq STAGE with a nice long reverb.

Freezing the track retained all the reverb decay throughout the entire track; no need to merge clips or extend them.

Why would the Scarbee VST behave differently?

To answer to rbowser; in the piano roll view, composing the bass let say for the chorus then copy the clip to the next chorus...
