Nektar Panorama P1 control surface with Sonar X3e Producer?
Has anyone tried, and/or succeeded in using one of these with Sonar? ACT makes it simple to assign faders, buttons, and rotors but the transport controls will have nothing to do with Sonar. I know this thing was produced primarily for Reason and Cubase, with settings for them built in. I'm not a MIDI guru so setting MMC, MTC, master/slave stuff is a crap shoot for me. Can anyone give me some advice or point me in the right direction please? Thanks

Since no one else has answered... I do not have the device. But that what I can conclude from documentation: The device has 2 modes: "Internal" and "DAW Cooperation". In first mode it is a generic MIDI controller. You can try Generic Surface, ACT MIDI or AZ Controller (my own) to use it with sonar. I do not have endless rotaries myself, so I can not say how good that works with the first 2 plug-ins and it does not work with my for sure. But rotaries can be configured as "normal" on the device. In this mode you loose 2/3 of the device "goodies" since you do not have feedback from the DAW on the device screen. You can use it for all functions so, transport inclusive. For "DAW Cooperation" mode special plug-in for SONAR is required. I have not found any hints about the protocol used in this mode, so most probably it is not Mackie. That means till someone implements this protocol using Cakewalk Control Surface API, there is no cooperation. Everything I know about Control Surfaces you can find on my site: www.azslow.com

I'm interested in the Panorama for its VST Instrument and FX support and not so much as DAW for Sonar. Does anybody know if within a Sonar project I can use Sonar's Generic Controller to activate this device and it can control the soft synth I have in the instrument rack or fx inserted in a track? thx

Using AZSLOW3's software, I have been able to configure a number of workflow enhancing controls to my Panorama P1. I assigned all of the functions keys, Track + and -, Patch + and -, View, and 8 Channels of faders, control for each of those channels with a mute, and assigned the endless rotators to Panning. It was a little bit of a learning curve (I had to mess around in AZSLOW3's software for a little bit before understanding what it was doing) but I found the software to be super effective. The video on his website 'www.azslow.com' gets you started and it worked flawlessly to get me up and running. I'm doing all of this in Sonar X2 as well. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sonar X2 Producer, Windows 10 home HP P7-1054, AMD64, 18GB M-Audio FastTrack Ultra 8R Panorama P1

Nice! Please publish the preset on my forum in the Discussions board, I will move it to Presets section. Do not expect many credits from people which will use it, but they will appreciate it (silently)
