One of my recent tunes!
*warning* - Atheist Themes - I did this song about 9 months ago. I had just got the new Metal Machine drum kit from toontracks, and used it exclusively for several songs. I feel this was a great mix and master for me. I really like the way it sounds across other devices. Sadly some of my newer tracks have dropped in both departments I feel, as I have been trying to get used to and experimenting with new techniques in mixing as well as mastering. Always learning, and thanks for listening... https://soundcloud.com/jason-hanerfeld/blood-of-mercy P.S. Can someone please tell me how to shorten the link names?

Great job! I like the energy of the guitar playing and all the parts you thought through and played. I liked the vocals and the rhythmic accents you were hitting with the lyrics. The song seemed more hard rocking than metal, by that I mean it seemed to have more melodic movement and I think I liked that aspect a whole lot. It kept my ear waiting to find out what was next. Short link: Use the Quick Reply: (Open Full Version) option and type in a short description, select that description with your mouse, then hit the link icon and it opens up a dialog box. Paste the actual url in the dialog box and select "insert". T.M.I.: It's a good idea to leave a space after your description before you select the description so that you can continue adding text with having the link extend over it. That will make sense later after you try this a few times.

This is some great playing Big J. Love the solo. The mix seems to lack mids. I had some trouble hearing all of the lyrics without straining to hear them...I know this is common for this type of genre. It can be tough to find a balance that brings out the vox and still have strong guitars. The rest of the mix sounded good on this end. Nice work on those guitars. You have some fast fingers there! Atheist themes don't bother me...I'm not one, but I would hope you could come here and not feel you need a disclaimer. The song seems to be a reference to the behavior of something, which doesn't prove/disprove existence..so is it really an Atheist song? Just sayin'

Starise, your right about that, but I still want to be mindful of others who might be offended. If you know you wont like music for its content, thats fine, Im just giving them an out, or am I drawing their attention to it? Hrmmmm..... Thanks for the replies guys, more to come! and thx Mike for the heads up on the link thing!

Good tune! I like it - and yeah, it rocks. Mix-wise, I have to agree with Tim that it's lacking some mids/hi-mids, but mostly/all in the vocals. Perhaps you could pull the guitars even further out to the sides and add some presence to the vocal track? Love the guitar work BTW - perfect for the genre. And MM works well too.

Great tune! Great arrangement. The guitars are a little muddy and could use some air. But they're certainly well-played and effective. The vocal could be thrust up front quite a bit (and possibly doubled?). For such a powerful song those lyrics could be more in your face. Just my opinion. That solo tho! Yes! Fantastic job.

Very nice. Rock-solid hardrock. The refrain gave me a Bad Religion vibe in some parts, which is a good thing in my book.
