NI 50% off mega-offer. For realz?
Just last month I jumped on what many other did, which was a sweet $50 deal on Reaktor 5. Now NI is offering some kind of 50% off everything deal. Here's my question: if I'm reading this right, it looks like Reaktor5 is one of the qualifying products to get Komplete9 for $200! Could that be right?

Wouldn't be surprised - I myself own only Guitar Rig and a couple of sample libraries and I'm eligible. It's a pretty enticing offer, though I do wish that they had an offer to simply upgrade to Kontakt. I dont really need all those (amazing) synths and of all the sample libraries included, nothing really interests me that I don't already own.

I was looking to see if my Guitar Rig 4 I got from one Sonar or another would qualify me, but it doesn't. I guess you have to have actually spent money with Native Instruments to qualify...no big deal, seems fair and it's a good deal for you guys.

Yeah. Well looks like I know where my paycheck is going on Friday. Thing is, I find my DAW environment to be pretty pesky with new fish in the pond, so I'm going to have to wait to install it until I finish this album project and can do a full DAW rebuild. Sigh. First world problems.

As a Komplete Ultimate 9 owner, the only thing I see there which I haven't got is Supercharger GT (apart from the Maschine software, but I don't own Maschine). I have the free version of Supercharger and don't really think it's that special, so I don't think the GT version is going to blow my socks off either. Oh well, looks like my wallet is safe!

Screw it, I bought it. I think it means needing to upgrade/rebuild the whole DAW and pray projects open (I had a traumatic experience last time) but whatevz, guess it's time to look at an i(x) processor and some WAY bigger hard drives. It'll be worth it for Kontakt alone. Curious about the dynamics plugins which I've never heard of. Plus, what happened to B4, did that get slurped into a Kontakt patch?

They discontinued B4. They get rid of products sometimes (Bandstand is another one that vanished). I think they do have a Hammond Organ sample in Kontakt, I haven't looked though. Their dynamics plugins work ok. I don't really seem to use them much, usually just the stuff in Sonar, but the NI ones look and sound nice.

Vintage Organs was the successor to B4.
It was too much trouble to update B4 as they wanted to change it fundamentally.
It was based on a detailled survey of B4 owner's preferences, and the sample-based emulation offers more sonic authenticity over the algorithmic sound generation of the B4 / B4 II.

I still use B4. I don't get using samples to emulate what was, and still is, essentially a form of additive synthesis.

I can upgrade Kontakt for $49.50. That's getting low enough to warrant consideration, the previous best offer being $79. I was looking to see if my Guitar Rig 4 I got from one Sonar or another would qualify me, but it doesn't. I guess you have to have actually spent money with Native Instruments to qualify... The text says "upgrade for users of ... Guitar Rig 3 LE...Guitar Rig 4 LE". Says "users", not "purchasers". I'd interpret that as meaning as users of GR, even if it came bundled with something else, we should still qualify for the crossgrade price of $49.50. I'm actually more interested in upgrading GR than Kontakt. Fifty bucks is half the price of Scuffham S-Gear, which I've been eyeing for a long time.

I've forgotten what was new with GR5 over prior versions, but I still think its overall sound isn't quite as good as competitors like Scuffham or Amplitube. Lots of cool effects, yes, but the amp sims generally aren't my favorites. As always, YMMV. That Supercharger GT comp is well worth a demo, which is easy to do with NI's downloadable products. Big improvement over the (formerly) free version, IMHO. I like it on drums particularly. If you've got the free one, the $25 upgrade is a good deal. Cheers, Eddie

I agree, but I can't get it to work. If I open the little NI cloud it says my GR4 is registered, but when I go to the site it isn't listed and says I have no qualifying upgrades. If you guys figure it out...let me know.

Got it. Installed it on laptop to start with. Install took 8 hours! I would just rotate the 12 discs of content every time I woke up during the night and by morning it was done!

Funny.... that's about the same thing I did when installing Komplete. Though I think I once made it through two discs between naps. Well worth it though, there is just so much to choose from.

...and you'll be upgrading to Ultimate next time there's a sale on But at least you won't have to put up with the disc install again. I did it with Komplete 8 and booooy what a stinker....I eventually upgraded to Ultimate in a summer sale and it was so freaking good to get that hard drive with all the content on, and just leave it running.....

That's odd because I also had the Sonar free version of Guitar Rig and I was eligible and I got the upgrade for $50. I'm quite happy with it..

Well I tried again and now I qualify. I was thinking of getting S-Gear...now I guess I have more to think about. I've never been to impressed with my GR4 (Sonar version), but $49.99 is a very good price. (EDIT) I went to look again and the $49.99 upgrade price is a option now, (It wasn't yesterday) but underneath it says I have none of the qualifying products.

For whatever it's worth, I had the discount on the upgrade to GR5 because I was a registered user of the LE version which came with Studio One. So in theory, you SHOULD qualify for it.

You would think. I've e-mailed them again for clarification. I do believe I will put that $49 towards my S-gear fund either way.

S-Gear gets my vote for actual amp sound. For out-of-this world/hit-a-note-and-create-an-entire-soundtrack-for-a-David-Lynch-movie type of thing, Guitar Rig is extraordinary.

For $49 I would have to consider GR5. It's just a great deal, but this (my non-qualifying) problem may help me keep on track with my S-Gear plan. It's getting harder for me to justify buying things. I'm really in pretty good shape with software.
