Help Please!

Hey guys,
A session I'm working on this week in X3 in my home studio is being taken to a pro studio running Pro Tools HD next week. It's a pretty simple project of less than 15 tracks, but I don't know how to wrap up the session so that they can open it in Pro Tools. I've frozen every track with plugins on it, but that's about it.

I've had clients bring me bundled Pro Tools sessions that Sonar accepts & loads with the correct tempos with every track lined up properly, but I've never wrapped one up.

Much appreciated!

Ryan

You can export every track to a wave file. That's one approach.

You can save the project as an OMF file (stands for other mo fo?).

The OMF is probably the main way, but I'm not sure what will happen with 'frozen' tracks.

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Export the tracks as Broadcast waves.  Broadcast waves are time stamped, so they should line up in Pro Tools.

I concur with broadcast wav. Although I would not use any effects on it. Save the project with a different name, set all the outputs directly to your main and then to the export. You will have to change the type of export to tracks. All the tracks that are mono, select them and make sure you change the other option on the right to mono as well so all the mono tracks are mono. Then repeat the process for any stereo tracks. If it's a pro studio they will probably have better plug ins so why not take advantage of that.

You can export an OMF as well but it's not as reliable from my experience. Although, I'm not an expert. Sometimes it worked for me, sometimes not. You won't get any effects but since you froze your tracks, you will. OMF does not export synths though unless they are frozen.

    Good luck
