A CRT? A CRT? A CRT? Was that video made in 1998?

The CRT was left over from the dark ages as was much of my studio equipment, it's no longer in service. You'll see sound modules from the '90's, the DA-88, all kinds of crap that I just can't bring myself to throw out !! I really need to go thru my studio and clean it out. Much of the stuff is sitting in limbo due to health reasons. I am making progress though. I bought a new Cannon Camera today, and I had fiber optic internet installed today too. I also installed a new hand held shower attachment today in my shower. Busy day....

I love seeing the work environment of my fellow forumites. Does make me feel like a neurotic in my need for tidiness though - I can't even work if the trash can is full... Even my computer desktop has to be impeccably clean. Cables are another pet peeve of mine. Usually, taking a break means cleaning up the mess. I remember seeing a picture of Van Halen rehearsing in the studio and I couldn't figure out how they could work in such a mess. But they sure did..

My problem is I let stuff build up over time....I've got cables running everywhere that haven't been used for 10 years....I just leave them there for another time....unfortunately that time is drawing near when I'm going to have to clean house. :)

Check this out. Last week, I couldn't stand my workspace anymore so I re-organized the whole place once again. Granted I don't own a tenth as much stuff as you and we've only moved in here last year. But stuff was starting to pile up against the walls - behind the desk, a bunch of amps I don't use and such. Here's the mess, in the middle of which I felt like I was suffocating: And here's the cleaned up version: Basically, stuff I wasn't using such as the 88 keys midi controller was all stored in the closet. Oddly enough, this seems to have the most positive effect on my creativity as I've been writing quite a bit this week. :)

See now your studio makes sense....mine doesn't anymore. I've got years of half finished projects and misc junk all over the place. The one thing I would really like is a nice clean studio with dual monitors. It's going to take me a lot of work to get there. I may just have to completely empty out my room and start over.

It'll take a lot of work but I think it's worth it. Me, I was just lucky - we moved here by plane, so as you imagine, there wasn't really any risk of my having too much stuff for this place. ;)

I don't see any mess in any of the photos/vids. Not in comparison to my studio dump.. I barely have room to swing a cowbell. Not that I'd ever need to, as no one ever asks me to record it...

Trust me it's messier than I want it to be...books everywhere, cd's everywhere...papers, junk mail, I started at the top today and replaced my ceiling lamp shade, it was plastic that had yellowed over time and cast a yellow tint over everything....now I have a nice new glass white shade which brightens up the place a little.
