what version of DP installed flac files?

I have been using Dimension LE and PRO for like ever.

I have flac and wav files in the multisamples folder.

Starting an new clean installation on a new disk.

Installed sonar 6 thru X2 and only have wav files in the multi-samples folders. Nicht Gut!

So, what version of DP installed flac files?

The version of DimPro (v1.5) which ships with the X series installs flac files. There have been no changes to the installers since X1. It is possible SONAR 8 or 8.5 also shipped with v1.5 I do not have them installed on my current machine. There is a downside to using the flac based samples. Flac broke wave file looping.

Found them in the vst plugins dimension folder, not in the designated multi-samples folder.

And found programs in 3 different folders. Way stupid.  All from subsequent installations of DP.

Never had a problem with DimPro installers. IIRC, the installer does provide an options to specify the multisamples directory. The only change to the install directories made by Cakewalk since the introduction of Dimension Pro was moving the directory containing the MIDI, Programs, Sample Pool and Turning directories from "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application\Data\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro" to "C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Dimension Pro". Currently, the default location of the directory containing the multisample folder along with the documentation, resources and uninstall information depends on whether the 32bit or 64bit version is installed first. Aside from these two locations, the dlls install into folders in the VST scan path.

I do not understand why this is a problem, it follows an installation method common to many other synths, i.e. a folder in "Program Files" for docs and unistall data, a folder in "ProgramData" for presets and a dll in the VST folder.

    Thanks for the response.

I am just starting down the users appdata folders.  Just stupid to ever put anything in hidden, system folders. Makes me crazy as there is no easy way to set default paths for presets, programs, samples,...

Last time I spent way too long editing the registry to change the paths to the samples disk folders.

I do not want any user program, preset,... saved to a location that is not quickly available.

User data should always be in a location the is in the default backup process of all such utilities.

Also, I want ALL samples on a 2nd disk.

DP, Rapture,... presets reference location of the samples. Not an easy thing to change the default.

    And other stuff.

...what version of DP installed flac files?

Whenever it happened, the change from WAV to Flac seemed to go largely unnoticed. Maybe most users never reinstall the multisample content. If, like me, you have installed various expansion packs plus stuff you added yourself, it's wise to leave it untouched rather than install it all again from scratch whenever you update DP. when I migrated to a new PC, I copied the multisamples over, keeping the folder structure intact. I also keep a backup.

There is a downside to using the flac based samples. Flac broke wave file looping.

When I converted all my flac samples to wavs, they at first no longer looped (sustained).  Turned out I wasn't preserving the loop metadata when using fre:ac for the conversions.  Using FLAC Frontend fixed that problem.  I don't understand what you mean by wav file looping being broken.
